Flak for HiE stories and my Annoyance · 6:51am Jun 17th, 2016
Ok. It's time to be said. Because frankly it's getting on my nerves.
I now realize the reason that many stories based on humans going to Equestria have been dormant for so long, or incomplete without chapters being added, even canceled. It's because of the negativity these authors get from comments that say they don't like HiE stories anymore and make their opinions well known. It's very possible to voice these opinions without tact, which I'm sure many have, and honestly, it annoys me.
Why?
Here's an explaination. Authors are people, like you and me, they like to create, they like to imagine, they like to dream. Just like us. In their particular dreams, they imagine themselves as that human going to Equestria, and either keeping their humanity, or changing into a pony. There's nothing wrong with that, as many others might feel the same way. It's a way of escape, a way of getting away from the reality of the outside world. However, critics and comments who dismiss HiE stories as cliche, over-used, boring, un-original, do more damage than the actual outside world. How? Because you're basically taking that person's escape from reality, their dreams, and grinding it under your iron hoof into dust. That's right, you're being the bully.
I myself wanted to write a story of inserting myself as Vinyl in a HiE story. However, after reading how caustic others were about these types of stories, I lost my drive, my happy feelings to put into words. It made me think: If we artists can't escape from the judgmental reality, only to meet harsh judgement here, then where can we go?
My advice to you all: Let HiE stories thrive. Let the artists and authors dream and write it out. Let them be themselves. If not, then I feel sorry for you, because you, by doing such a hurtful thing, are taking your first baby steps into anti-brony/pegasisterdom. That's right, you're going to what is known as the Dark Side of Bronies.
