Young and the Restless · 3:14pm May 30th, 2016

A shrill, high-pitched scream led the young man straight to Adagio's room. He was panting from the frantic rush up the stairs just moments after opening the front door, and a small amount of sweat now stained his polo shirt. The door to the girl's room was already open when he scrambled over and he immediately noticed the siren ringleader's altered form. "Huh," was all he could say as Sonata was next to arrive at the scene after being left behind at the front door. The frilly apron she wanted to surprise him with the moment he got back from work was now disheveled, but the young man's attention was aimed toward the still-distraught Adagio looking over herself in shock and dismay.

He tried so hard not to guffaw at the formerly "teenage" girl's expense. He was a fairly rational person, who felt that given the extraordinary circumstances he'd been living under for the past few months, there was a consistently logical explanation for what happened to Adagio. Nonetheless, there was something itching at the back of his mind. "Alright. I figure this has to do with magic and all, but what I don't get is how even though you got smaller, the amount of hair on your head stayed the same."

Adagio was quick to respond with a flurry of punches his direction and screeched out with a voice full of helium-like fury, "Don't you even start, Fudge Lord!" Despite her tenacious effort, however, she failed to get even one hit while the young man held her back with his longer reach.

"Wow, this is pretty convenient," he quipped. It didn't take long for Adagio's short but swift swings to turn sluggish, then for her to give up entirely on the idea of winning a frontal assault.

"That's weird. The same thing happened to us when we were first banished to this world," Sonata explained, jumping into the conversation while also hopping forward toward Adagio to get a better look.

"Oh. So this is normal, then?" He sought to reason from what he just heard.

"No! No this is most definitely not normal!" Adagio argued back when her voice cracked mid-sentence. The moment a choked back snicker reached her ears, she charged at him with all the rage her little body could muster; it ended exactly the same as her first attack, with his hand pressed against her forehead to keep her at bay.

"Care to explain?" He asked Sonata while taking care not to be decked by Adagio's current spate of attacks, which now included kicks and even a few bite attempts.

"When we were defeated and sent over to this world, we lost a lot of our powers and turned little as a result. We still had our gems though, so the three of us worked really hard to get our powers back! But when we were beaten at Canterlot High, we pretty much turned into humans. But now that Dagi's got some magic in her new gem, y'know after that whole craziness from last night, she's a Siren again! Though an itty bitty one until she gathers enough magic."

Adagio disliked hearing that add-on comment and snarled as she focused her ire toward the young man, jumping onto her bed to gain at least a modicum of height over him. "It means you're the key to not only getting me back to my body, but for Sonata and Aria to get their powers back!"

"I don't know," he sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "That teacher's orientation was a lot more than I thought it'd be. Kinda tired now, so..."

She continued on, ignoring his comments. "Yours has turned out to be quite the gift indeed. And I expect you to be the gift that keeps giving."

"Wait, am I the gift, or are you calling me a gem, which is the gift I gave you?"

She narrowed her eyes and sent him a scowl. "Hmph. You've gotten quite uppity lately, haven't you?" Adagio said with arms crossed.

"It's hard to be intimidated by a tyke," he said with a shrug and a smile.

She smirked and said in a low voice, "Or...maybe you're just one of those, huh? I think I'll call the cops on you, then we'll see who's laughing!" Adagio hopped down to the floor, earning a soft applause from Sonata for the landing.

He snorted and scoffed. "Please. You just said you needed me to get back to normal. Besides, your brattiness reminds me of my little sister when she was a kid." After mussing up her hair a bit the young man turned to leave. "We'll be able to figure this out better with food in our stomachs. I'm gonna get dinner started."

Sonata let out a giggle before following him downstairs. "This is way more fun than when we were first banished, right, Adagio?"

Adagio crossed her arms again and clicked her tongue in annoyance. But Sonata's comment rang true and she sighed. There was hope again.
