I'd like to introduce myself as a writer... · 8:19pm Jan 26th, 2012
Good day! My name is Dorkside99. I hope you have found my stories to your liking, or in the very least amusing. That is my goal after all: to provide you an escape with a moving story. How I move you is beyond me.
I hope you don't mind I take certain..."liberties" with my creations. You see, I was brought up in my prose training to never let anything or anyone limit what you can accomplish. Nothing. To do so would be to rob the world of your greatest achievements. What others think is subjective and varies from reader to reader. Besides, a good writer writes for one and one person alone: the writer.
Personally, I find it fascinating to write the unexpected. A sweet and pristine little girl who prides herself in drowning alley cats in large buckets of bleach to satisfy a god made of paper plates and copper wire? Brilliant. A man who awaits an opportunity to kill at the entrance of his objective's sleeping quarters? An instant masterpiece. A troubled cellist with separation issues and a flare for instruments that captures the essence of pony beauty? Must you ask?
Now, I do want to clarify one thing: I am not a fighter, but a lover. I do not write to anger, though my creations could very well have that affect. I write because I can. It fulfills the need within me to create and produce, much like a mechanic builds his own car in his garage or a musician composes a song in the depths of his studio. It is an insatiable need.
I know I'm not the best novel writer in FIMFiction, perhaps not even within the top twenty. I am by preference a playwright with a high respect for the works of Shakespeare. This means that I allow the characters through their words and actions to speak the story for me instead of granting the narrator a sort of "God" complex. Of course, this sort of writing was more of a need for Shakespeare's audience since they didn't have the modern technology that facilitate the creation of special effects we have today, thus players had to explain the set using their words. I personally find this form of expression charming and try to mimic that in my stories as well. Whether you like it or not is low on my list of concerns, but I say this not of arrogance but of a sincere attempt to show you my commitment to give readers of my stories a different avenue of fictitious entertainment.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know me as a writer a little more. Do stop by often, for as long as the heart beats and the hand moves, the writer writes!
