    5th chapter out!

I apologize for the ranting, especially about stuff that isn't even relevant to the story. Here's a chapter to make up for it.

Edit: Also if anyone wants to give feedback, especially of a constructive nature, I would be happy to hear your comments

Hey! It's a blog post that isn't about how a chapter is completed! What is this blasphemy?!
Well, I wanted to give you guys a sort of insight on this story and what I've been coming to realize increasingly over the course of making Revenge.

So if you don't like self reflection, tab out now. If you hate spoilers in any way shape or form, please leave so that I don't ruin the story for you.

So back when I started writing this, and had come up with the idea for it, I only planned it to be a comedy. It was going to be a typical lighthearted comedy where the changeling was a stereotypical evil villain that tried and repeatedly failed to take vengeance against the mane 6. I started writing the chapter, and tried my best to make sure that what this character did made sense. So she became a pegasus to overcome the Everfree forest without any trouble. Of course, since she was essentially brainwashed prior to this, she was having trouble with making decisions for herself. Then she needed a reason why she hated them. I tried to explain the reason in the text, but I think the real reason remained sub-textual at that point.

Then she got out of the forest, and went to the closest building available. Instead of finding a pony that could help her find the mane 6. She found Fluttershy herself. Knowing only what she had remembered seeing in her previous battle, she incorrectly assumes that she's an insane martial artist.

Then she faints. Well what would Fluttershy do? Help the pony of course. She may be shy, but that probably doesn't matter when they are unconscious and possibly hurt. So she takes the Changeling to her room. Fairly straight forward. The only problem being that now the changeling was inside the house of the enemy, so she freaks out. I figured that the changeling would probably be hungry, since she was knocked unconscious for an undetermined amount of time in the woods (enough time for the bearers of the elements of harmony to get back to Ponyville). Fluttershy would have probably left something for the mare to eat when she woke up, cause I assume that would fall under basic care giving skills. Then, the last two paragraphs happened.

I swear that what I wrote completely surprised me, and once I wrote it I couldn't believe I wrote it... but I couldn't change it. It seemed to me, that caregiver Fluttershy would do something like that for one of her patients.

So it became a romantic comedy based on those few words at the end of chapter one.

The next chapter I figured she was curious about the whole thing, so the changeling went downstairs. Then, she panicked. Fluttershy probably panicked too, but the changeling would have left long before noticing that.

She then met Rainbow Dash by running into her, and had to make up her name, Discovery. I just came up with it while thinking of a name for someone with a brain on their flank. The more I think about it however the more it makes sense. The rest of the chapter stuff past that point is really setting up and also continuing the themes set out in the first couple chapters.

Basically here are the core ideas that I found in my work:
1. Discovery is not a bad pony/changeling
2. Discovery doesn't care about the hive, her true motivation for getting revenge on the mane 6 is that she feels she has been wronged.
3. Discovery feels wronged because she feels like those ponies robbed her of having a stable supply of her food source, love.
4. Discovery ironically doesn't realize that she is getting, and is going to be getting, a stable supply of love from the very ponies she wants revenge on.

This tells me a lot about my self too. I tried to make a character that was just evil for evil's sake. Yet I somehow end up with a deep character with a more complicated arc then I intended. It all really leads back to the first core idea. Except on a more grand scale. I honestly don't believe that there is anybody in this world who is evil. Some may find that shocking, and others would say I am living in a fantasy world, but I don't think that anyone in reality is truly evil. So how could I make a character that was evil?

I know there are a lot of bad things in the world and there are people behind those things.

I'm not saying I condone what Hitler did, as an obvious example of what we call evil today. I just think that the reason that we perceive evil to exist is based off of other factors.

1. The road to evil is paved with good intentions.
I'm sure many of you have heard this saying. You should also understand that Hitler is a perfect example of this. What was Hitler's goal? Ultimately for human beings to be the best we can and to create a place where everyone can live happily. That was his goal. It was his method, which I don't have to explain here, which was horrid.

Most people wants the world to be a better place but right there is an example from history what could go wrong if you use extreme methods to do it.

2.Everyone wants to be loved.
Everyone wants to feel loved and appreciated, and yet we live in a world where people are separating them from others, and fighting over power.

3. The justice system solves nothing
I don't think putting criminals in bars and chains is going to solve the problem. These so called criminals are doing it for a reason. Maybe it is that competitiveness we call greed. I think a lot of crime however comes from desperation. Whether it is a desperation to survive, or to fit in, or to feel loved. People will do extreme things for it.

We lock the criminals behind bars, but we don't ask why they do it. That just exacerbates the problem. They then feel more unloved, we make it harder to survive by making honest work nearly impossible, we lump them together in with other people who are causing crimes. The reason why they did it is far more important then what they did, because once we find out why they truly did such things, we might be able to fix our broken society.

4. Corruption is people being competitive instead of cooperative.
We usually talk about corruption in terms of money, but really, money isn't the only thing that can be corrupt. For example, if you believe that you need to be a more powerful country then you are probably harboring a corrupt ideal.

Let me explain that further. Currently many countries want their own country to be better than others in some way. What they do is dependent on what they want to be better at. The U.S. for example puts a lot of their power and influence behind their military and government. Therefor, they take money from the people that can't improve either of those fields (the poor) and become in favor of those that can bolster, or at least seem to bolster, those sections.

That is corruption, instead of trying to cooperate with their citizens to make their lives easier, countries try to one up another. It's a giant pissing contest on a massive scale. It's really quite pathetic. Yet so very dangerous to their citizens.

Money, is not necessarily the problem, but it is a tool for those in power to control those that aren't. At least how that particular system of exchange works now...

Okay I've started rambling about social-political topics now... I'm going to end this before I get marked for a hired killing.

Have a nice day.
