I also draw. Maybe I draw too much and write too little.

A Christmas Walk · 11:25am Dec 26th, 2015

I live in Hong Kong. Although the social stigma of watching MLP is weaker in here (the lack of pre-G4 history and the fact that nobody knows what the heck it is. It often gets lumped together with anime, which isn't too unreasonable, I guess), it's also hard to find someone who also watch the show or even assorted merchandise. Maybe they'll carry it in some local Toy's R Us, I suppose, but there isn't one near where I live.

I'm not usually one to buy merchandise for what I watch, but I'm always curious about the way they earn money as it is a determinant of whether the show will go on. When I log out and see that Daring Do plush ad down below, I often go, 'Holy crap, are dolls this expensive now?'

I take that back. When I went to one of the book/toy stores to grab some books, I saw this:

399 HKD = 51.4 Freedom Dollar anyway. (1 USD always ~= 7.8 HKD due to dollar pegging)

So I would have to spend more than 300 USD for a whole set, whoa.

Well, at least I live next to China. If I am willing to bear with plushes of non-Hasbro origin (link to Taobao, China's eBay), I can get one with comparable quality with only 5-6 USD.

Edit after 7 months: Holy crap, those are (probably) the NICI plushies that I just bought! The price is just right too. Well, the Chinese has a saying: 有眼不識泰山 (With eyes, but fail to see the Mount Tai, meaning 'fail to notice true brilliance').
