Volkert

I'm a hobbyist writer, but I have a lot of pride in my work. I want to write more, and I'm hoping this will help inspire me to do so. 6'2", brown-haired, 22 year old, 197 lbs, ger-ital-iris-ican.

I've never blogged before. I've never written for such a wide audience before either. Of course, that's assuming a lot since I don't know anyone yet, and no one knows anything about me.

I've never blogged before. I've never written for such a wide audience before either. Of course, that's assuming a lot since I don't know anyone yet, and no one knows anything about me.

I would like to be called Volkert. It is not my true name, but it is one that I'll always recognize. Volkert has sentimental value, in a way, but its roots are a bit darker than I'd like to talk about. It's a Dutch name, after the man Volkert van der Graaf, a political assassin from the early 2000s- since discontinued in use. I find all of my names in this way.

Please understand, this carries no resemblance to me, only to a character I created.

I do have less intimidating characters. Airpower flies airships to give earths and unicorns a glimpse of what it means to fly without magic. He's probably the most important to me, as he's the closest to my own spirit.

I have several other characters which will appear in my writings on this site. Terrene Ponderer is a scientist/philosopher who found a way to live far beyond his lifetime by locking himself away. Asfalia is a powerful sorceress who prefers her solitude, but is drawn in by responsibility to abandoning it. Argarius is an exceptionally friendly roaming knight who spends half his time talking about his great deeds at pubs and divides the other half between drinking and sleeping.

There are more, of course, but these are my favorites because they all have a story that hasn't been told yet- not out loud at least. And that's why I'm here. I want very whole-heartedly to tell their stories. I don't promise that I can do them justice, but they are there and they deserve to be told.

I appreciate your time,
-Volkert
