Well, time to tackle THE most proeminent feature about yours truly. As my name cunnignly indicates it, I'm what you'd call Edgy. I like Edgy and I like Dark.
As an author, I was always nurtured with the idea that Dark was "bad", that it was a way to recycle old metas and hide a huge lack of talent. Same thing with edgyness, really. Trying to be original whilst just spitting half-digested characters, stories, settings, etc...
Well, I know quite a lot of you out there are Romance fans. Shipping IS the soul of Fan-fiction after all. Romance is the most used tag on the site. Yet, I don't often hear the same kind of critics against romance that I DO hear about Edgy and Dark. Why ? Well, let's be fair, I don't hang around the Romance Circles, I let my good friend HapHazred do it in my stead. Though I am sure they never encountered a situation like I did, several times in my dank circles : an idiot pops up, like a crusader of virtue, and starts pestering us about how we're just emo kids with no life (and no sexual life either) and that we just like to see everything in a bad way juste to be "cool". Well, okay, Teddybear, but I'd say the same about yer romance stories, maggot. Bunch of love-lovers (sic) with no friends and no love in their life that try to find a disgusting comfort in Fictions, trying to fill that void in their souls. Now, everyone with a bit of brain can agree that this is kind of stupid on both sides, yes ? In anycase, I do. Can't really conduct a solid argument like that.
Why is Dark so ill-viewed ? Well, if you looked for the answer, search no more. It's because of the internet. The World Wide Web is and has always been a catalyst for our behaviours (good or bad). Social Justice Warriors and Haters are common. A lot of words have lost their usual meaning. Take a look at edgy (TRANSITION OMG 8/8) :

The internet meaning ? Trying too DAMN HARD to show how incredibly untalented you are by trying to write the opposite of EVERYTHING the fandom ever did to "distinguish" yourself from the crowd. To cut it short : edgy = bad.
And that is just stupid. Sure, they ARE people like that (I've seen more than my share) and the fact that we are on the Internet gives them a lot more voice than they deserve. Basically, what I am trying to say is that Dark and Edgy are two things that exist, should exist ( I mean, people do like them a lot, AKA the Witcher 3, Mass Effect, Tyrannosaur, etc etc... ) and I will always rise and defend them, for nothing should be given so much bad credits without ever having the chance to prove itself. I've seen a lot of shitty romance. Yet I don't give the Genre a negative preset whenever I lay my eyes on it. Sure, you may not like Edgy and Dark, but it's no reason to shit on it.
My deep feeling about all this, is that because the show is so lighthearted and overall positive, a lot of people feel compelled to defend it againt any unholy demon of dark and edgy that would try and taint this small light that they look forward to in our daily life. Well, I think that we all search for something different in Fan-Fiction. Many look for a break, a laugh, a cute story ; I look for a more in-depth, violent, brutal, crude take on events, because it pleases my artistic sense, my mind, my soul, whatever ! Am I to blame for that ? I think not. I don't attack you on your romance, I don't judge it. Don't show everyone how much of an idiot you are by being intolerant, even if it hinders your little incursion into the cute candy world of MLP by simply READING THE TITLE. Ugh...
Long story short (TL:DR) : I will stand by my preferred tags, Gore, Mature, Sex, Dark, and I will write stories that follow them. Why ? Simply because I like it, and I won't hesitate to say it times and times again. Don't let others tell you what to like, don't let them judge things FOR you. No, you just have to be your own judge.
