    Life Ramblings

    Happy October everyone :) Don't you just love Halloween? I'd like to thank all of you again for the feedback, likes, comments, and even the dislikes on my stories. It has come to my attention that there are a ton of interesting bloggers on here, so I've decided to try and be more active in my own blog, and what better way to do that than rant about my life?

Dear good people of Fimfiction,

Firstly, thank you all very much for all of the follows, ratings and comments that you have kindly bestowed upon my stories (even the bad ones). My main reason for joining this site was to improve my literacy skills, and therefore each and every one of them has been extremely helpful.

Writing little stories is fun, but I would really love to write something great. I've discovered I have a surprising knack for writing clop, but I don't want to rely upon that during my time here. Therefore I'm looking to you, members of FimFiction for any advice/help you would be willing to give on writing a good story.

I'm not asking you for a plot, obviously I'll come up with that myself, just helpful advice. Here is some I have recently been given by more advanced writers than myself, that I would be happy to share with you;

1) Build up a relationship between the reader and your characters. If you want to get a reaction from the reader when something good or bad happens to a character, make sure the reader first cares about the character. The audience aren't going to care if you kill off a character that they have spent little to no time with.

2) Don't be predictable. If you want your story to be interesting, let it take different pathways and angles. When deciding in a direction to go, first think of the most reasonable outcome, and cross it off the list.

3) Make sure your characters react with one another. If you have two interesting characters, don't keep them apart, bring them together and let them bounce off one another.

4) Take your sweet time. Don't rush anything because it won't be worth it in the long run. Even if people try to push you to get the next chapter out, don't release it until you are confident that it is worthy of being released.

5) Read other people's work on a regular basis. You are nothing without your peers, and becoming engaged in other people's stories can really open your eyes to what good writing is all about.

If any one has any more advice, I would be very happy to add it to the list. Until then, please feel free to chat with me via this blog.

(I didn't make the image btw, found it on Pinterest - great site.)
