    Lavender Unicorn Syndrome

I submitted Family Appreciation Day to EQD. It was rejected due to length and other issues, but it doesn't quite matter. I kind of started hoping it wouldn't be accepted, a few days after I sent it in. I'd like to make my debut on EQD with a different story -- one I'm currently working on right now, titled Crush.

However, I have learned from my mistakes.

For one thing, one of the problems pointed out with the story was what was referred to as Lavender Unicorn Syndrome. Which is where a character is referred to by some descriptive thing rather than with a pronoun.

I hate that trope, but I used it in Family Appreciation Day because I thought it would make it more appealing.

Oh well.

I am writing my current story in a vastly different manner, anyways. Family Appreciation Day was written to be "user friendly." My current project will be written the way I like to write. Which as a result may be a bit more controversial.

Now I just feel embarrassed for having succumbed to the so-called Lavender Unicorn Syndrome.

Congrats man, you are on first page of google results for "Lavender Unicorn Syndrome"

Thank Celestis someone agrees with me, there's nothign wrong with descriptive nouns.

There is no such thing as "lavender unicorn syndrome"

I just got a fic response accusing me of too much LUS. At first, I was like, "What? I don't know of a single pony in my story (beyond Twilight) like that!" But like - what are we supposed to do, then? If you keep using the name of the pony/character over and over again, it gets repetitive and dull. I'm in agreement with Alex here - I don't get the stigma.

so, basicly its when for example, i say
" I love baking lemon cake Dashie!" said Pinkie
but instead of saying this over and over i say
" I love baking lemon cake Dashie!" said the party mare
or said the hyper pony

is that basicly what lavender unicorn syndrome is?

EQD seems quite fascist. :twilightangry2:
