i have been noticing a little issue that has been coming up lately. the web of fanfics is confusing
for instance if i am at chapter 20 of a fanfic and that chapter is a crossover, but the jokes are only funny if you have read upto chapter ... idk 19 of the other fanfic, this can really be a bummer and a road block. So i think that, as apposed to asking to stop making crossovers (i couldn't do that because 1 they help out lesser known fanfics, 2 they are awesome and 3 they are awesome.. did i mention they are awesome?)i am asking some of the more involved members of the Brony fanfic world to help me compile a list for new readers. this list will be basically a list of the best, most famous, or most recommended fanfics of all genres. It will not only tell what they are all about but give you a heads up in the manner of crossovers and other things that could link the characters or stories. Instead of having simple classes like sad or funny there could be more distinct tags that are relevant to different fan bases i.e. frequent breaking of the 4th wall, frequent Dr. Who references, or relations to other pop culture references. Tags like one hit wonder (great story but only has one or two chapters) or long story (also good but has more than ten chapters) would help out too. Think of it as a must read guide. We can form a board out of the most avid readers and writers that could not just help out new readers but new authors as well. We could even have a reading list or a seal of approval ( think Oprah's sticker thing she puts on books she likes).
But i cannot do it alone, i need help from writers and readers of all genres to make this work i was thinking that if people could send me a doc with their favorite fics of each genre in it i could cross reference them and start compiling a real and timeless list of Fanfic classics.
Okay while I agree with this you may want to reword what you've said first you say "crossovers" then you go into an entirely new subject talking about the different tags for stories.
