    It Can't Be Just Me

I still go to Derpibooru. I know some people have stopped, or at least stop having their art there, but it is still the most convenient way to see most mlp art (and not having to create an account for every art site under the sun). I also live out in the country, so there are many times when my internet can be spotty. There are times when I will be in the middle of something, and it will slow,

Still Getting Attention For Some Reason

So, it has been over a year since I last posted or updated a story (August 2021), and almost a year since I announced i was giving up on continuing any stories here. Yet, somehow, I am still getting notifications that people are liking my stories, and even occasionally getting new followers.

I'm kind of curious as to why?

    Giving Up

Well, I'm admitting defeat. The stories that I have here but have not finished are now officially cancelled. After all this time, it seems unlikely that I will be continuing to work on them. Sorry to those who were hoping that they would keep going, but hopefully you understand.

    MLP, D&D, and breath weapons

Something I was thinking about the other day.

In the show, we have dragons of numerous colors, but they all breathe fire. Some of them are of different colors, but it is fire all the same.

How did Twilight get talked into this? · 9:33pm Jul 4th, 2015

On tumblr, there is a blog called Twijacky weekly. On it, artist Jowybean posts a picture of Applejack and Twilight Sparkle doing something together on Fridays. This weeks picture was:

Bullriding!

That's right. Somehow Applejack got Twilight to go bullriding with her.

My question to you is: how? What happened to get Twilight to agree to this?

Can't wait to steal :applejackconfused: hear your ideas. :twilightsheepish:

My guess would be that there was a lot of alcohol involved.

Honestly, the first question that comes to my mind is 'how did the bull get talked into it?'

But then I saw Ocean Waves' response, and that works as an answer for mine, too.

3207173 Bull's getting paid, that's how. He's an employee of the rodeo organization, and is a respected performer and athlete, perhaps even a star (given that he's with a Princess as well as the Bearer of Honesty, who is a skilled athlete as well).

As for Twilight, Applejack talked her into this as a way to understand and appreciate the traditional lifestyle of Equestria's blue collar side, and to spend time together doing something on AJ's terms. Alternately, it's at least in part a PR stunt, akin to the President throwing the first pitch in baseball season.

Edit: And yeah, I can see that there's no sign of any sports venue behind them, but my headcanon has always been that rodeos and the like tend to take place in deliberately simple venues with little other than a set of bleachers and a level patch of ground on the outskirts of town, along with the necessary amenities near the bleachers.

In what way exactly? Like I can see two possibilities. One, the night before. The two of them were drinking and talking, and Applejack somehow talked a drunken Twilight into this (or Twilight insisting on doing it, wanting to be more athletic). It also has the added benefit of humor in that a hungover Twilight is woken up by a seemingly sober and perky Applejack in the morning, who holds Twilight Sparkle to her drunken deal. The other is like just before. The two of them go to a rodeo, have a couple drinks, and then there is an open challenge for the bullriding. Twilight volunteers and refuses to be talked out of it, so Applejack ends up going in with her.

The bull getting paid makes sense. Not something I ever really thought of before, but the show has shown that they are at least smart enough to hold proper conversations with ponies.
Also, if it is a PR stunt, I would love to hear the conversation that led up to it.

The first. It seems more likely than Twilight volunteering.

3207424 As would I ... I'll try to write a quick and dirty version and post it below, but I can't promise it.

Setting: Twilight's castle, throne room.

Applejack: Did you hear that Appleloosa is having a big shindig to celebrate the anniversary of their peace with the Buffalo?
Rarity: Oh? We really should put in an appearance, given our involvement. Just as long as Pinkie doesn't sing.
Pinkie: Awww!
Applejack: Sorry, Pinkie, but they didn't appreciate it last year, so an encore ain't gonna go over well.
Twilight: We really should do something to participate instead of just showing up, though. I know I'd like to do something that isn't giving a speech, something that reminds everypony that I'm still an ordinary pony even though I'm a Princess now.
Applejack: Well, the Dodge Junction Rodeo Company is gonna having a tournament at the festival. What say you and I enter as a team, Twi?
Twilight: Well ... that's not really ...
Rainbow Dash: (Cutting her off) That sounds like nine kinds of awesome right there! I mean, it's not quite Wonderbolts level awesome, but still pretty cool. And besides, it is something that'd remind ponies that you're still one of them.
Twilight: But I wasn't into rodeo before ...
Pinkie: Wouldn't a good princess have an understanding of what their little ponies enjoyed?
Twilight: But ... well ... that is a good point. And Princess Celestia does make a point to kick off hoofball season herself every year, and we were all front-and-center at the Equestria Games. But on the other hand, I don't know much about rodeo, and was never really athletic to begin with. I mean, I did a little jousting in school, but that's it.
Applejack: Apples and oranges; not much you can carry over there, but also not too much to unlearn. Good thing we have a few weeks to get you up to snuff. The basics ain't hard, and after that, it's a matter of practicing to sharpen them up. And besides, you'll be with me, so you'll be fine.
Twilight: Alright ... let's see what we can do.

There, it could use a LOT of polish, but there it is. Take anything you want from it. Or feel free to ignore it.
