Alright, So Here's an Update! · 1:24am Jul 4th, 2015
Alright, guys.
So, my break's about to end, and I'll get back to writing, but I decided I'd share a few things first.
First of all! Due to the amazing-ness that was episode 100, I might be releasing a few short stories during the course of the Marks of War story. These will include a story about Vinyl titled "For I Have No Mouth, and I Must Sing," and a story about that one changeling that would go by the name of "When You're Invited to a Wedding," both of which will be fun to write.
Secondly, this relates to Mark of War plot. Just a little information that the people that already know what's going on need to know. If you're new to Warhammer, but mildly curious, you're welcome to read, but it really doesn't have any story value.
Now, if you've read some of the comments on the original blog that announced MoW, you've might have learned that Apple Bloom will meet up with the Blood Ravens Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.
Now the Blood Ravens...there's some drama surrounding them. They are in the harshest terms "Relic's bad OC that is so heretical that deserves to be disbanded and destroyed by the Inquisition."
I'm not a fan of the harshest people.
So, allow me to provide with my beliefs of who the Blood Ravens are.
First and foremost, the Blood Ravens are not thieves.
Yes, they somehow have the fist of Rogal Dorn, which they should not have, but they certainly did not sneak into the Imperial Fists' Phalanx grabbed it and ran.
That's dumb.
I won't pretend to know how they got it, but there's more than one way to get a relic. i.e. a gift. They exist.
Now, yes it's highly unlikely that they gifted that, but to assume it's stolen is a bit much.
Not to mention the fact that I think that Relic overpopulated their armory a bit.
For those that don't understand, Relic is a game company that is responsible for the games Dawn of War, Dawn of War 2, and Space Marine, all of which were awesome. In Dawn of War 2, they added a corruption mechanic to an RTS, which was interesting. The idea was that you got to pick your equipment, and this would determine your purity, and the story of the game. This was cool, unfortunately this got the Blood Ravens a reputation of using chaos weapons.
Look guys, the equipment list from DoW2 is a mechanic to make the campaign more interesting. It's not necessarily true, nor representative of the canon. Yes, it's a funny joke, I enjoyed the story of them stealing Bjorn, it was kinda awesome, but don't hold a joke against the actual chapter.
Go hate Matt Ward instead.
But seriously, the Blood Ravens are going to be treated seriously in this fic. I'm sorry if that offends your sensibilities.
