Well, I got inspired to post my "How I became a Brony" story. Apparently that's going around now, I'm guessing in response to episode 100. Anyway, here goes. (Sorry, it's kind of long)

I first heard of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic back in 2010, shortly after it started, back when I was still in the U.S. Navy. I remember knowing vaguely about the Brony community and that it was a bunch of adult men and women who liked the show. Their was a guy on the same ship as I was that liked the show because he talked about it a little; I remember he was wearing a Vinyl Scratch t-shirt one time. He was one of those guys that was like “yeah, I like MLP, if you have a problem with it you can go eat a dick”. I didn’t think too much of the show because it just didn’t interest me back then, but I also didn’t judge anyone that did like it. The only other thing I remember about MLP back then was this U.S. Army soldier that went to a pony convention in uniform and had a rainbow or something in place of his command patch. There was a lot drama stirred up over that.

Fast forward to 2012; I had just gotten out of the Navy and started college. I was on Newgrounds one time and I was curious at what MLP stuff I could find. I came across these flash pornographic games that were based off of those clopfics about humans in Equestria that go around and have sex with different mares. Yes, that was my first experience with MLP; I’m a dirty pervert.

Fast forward to fall/winter 2013; I started thinking about MLP again. While I was on my winter break from college and visiting my brother, I decided I would finally check out the episodes and see what this whole pony thing was all about. I bought the first half of season one off of iTunes for $25. I figured if I like it, good; if not, then I’m only out $25. I watched the first episode and thought, “Okay, this is pretty good”. I remember I was a little self conscious about watching MLP, so I only watched an episode when my brother was gone. Over the course of 2014, I watched the remaining seasons. I started discovering the Brony community and all the fan art, music and animations. I started with the music because I love good music. I remember the first Brony song I listened to was “Discord (Living Tombstone remix)” by Eurobeat Brony. The first Brony song that I downloaded and put on my iPod was “Dubstep Dishwasher” by The Living Tombstone. I also discovered all the fan art and started getting on EQD every so often to check out there Drawfriend posts.

Speaking of art, I started drawing ponies back in Fall 2014 after a drawing competition that was held by a pony club at the college I go to. Although, shortly afterwards, I lost interest. I didn’t pick it back up until January 2015, after a charity livestream that was held by the deviantArt group, Team Okay. I practice as much as I can because I want to get better at it.

Last but not least, fan fiction. I started really getting into fan fiction after I saw a story advertised on EQD that was titled “A Roll in the Hay”. Since it was on FimFiction, I created an account and began exploring other stories on the site. I got inspired to write a story after I had got back from my brother’s wedding in September 2015. It was the story that I have posted here titled “One Night with Celestia”. It was originally going to be a one shot clopfic between Celestia and an OC of mine. However, more ideas started pouring in and I decided to make a love story out of it with a tragic ending. I’m proud of that story because that was the most I have ever written in my life. Overall, the story came out to be 30,000+ words.

Well, that was how I became a Brony. My mom and brother know I like the show. I’m little more open about it although I don’t go broadcasting it out to everyone.
