    Howdy howdy howdy

Hey there, my followers and readers. I know, it's been quite awhile since I've thrown up a blog post or anything. And there is a good reason for this. I got a new job as a teacher so my free time has been both cut and expanded greatly, and yes, I know that that is a bit of a contradiction but it's what it is.

    Hey all

How ya'll doin' out there? This is your friendly neighborhood Raryn with a short update for all those followers of mine. Writing of G-Pony episode 12 is currently still stalled, I haven't had much time to devote to it recently due to university stuff. But I will be getting to it at some point soon.

Update! or an introduction to my writing process · 12:53am Jul 20th, 2012

So, it's been awhile, and I am proud to say that the next episode of G-Pony is almost finished.; All that still needs to be done is to get it written up onto my computer so that I can then get it up here. As for the Librarian story, well, that is still being worked on.

And on that note, I would like to take some of your time to maybe clear up a few things on why this has taken me so long to finish. Well, it has to do with two main reasons:

1. The weather

2. The way I write

On the weather, where I am, it is summer, and I hate the summer. It is too hot. I mean for the past month or so the average temperature has been around, say mid to upper 80s. This, to me at least, leads to a general lack of wanting to do anything but lie about doing nothing. I have been trying to combat this by doing most of my writing while I'm at work where it is nice and air conditioned, but still.

Now onto my writing process. In case anyone was wondering, I am still an advocate of the old pencil and paper approach for writing (hell, if I knew how, I would be using the dip pen I have to write). That being said, it means that the way I go about writing is a very long and slow process.

Step 1: The outline
The first thing I do is to go about outlining the very essential plot points that I need to go over. This is just a basic thing and is very subject to change as I write, but I mainly end up with about 10 or so points while leaving out any connecting actions for better writing purposes.

Step 2: The initial draft
Following the outlining, I take up my trusty mechanical pencil (.5 mm lead because it looks nice) and notebook. This is by far the longest part of my writing as for with the latest episode of G-Pony, I have pretty much written the entire thing in that notebook (though I do leave scenes out of it when I tend to write more then what is written there on the computer). Now going back to the outlining and the important scenes. What I do is to take those scenes, flesh them out and connect them in the way that I feel that they should be connected. This sometimes leads to me going back and changing whole sections to make it add up with everything else.

Step 3: The second draft (aka the computer version)
Once the initial draft is done, I set about transferring it to my computer. With this I expand more on what I initially wrote and add more to it. Thusly I am essentially writing the story twice over. Though it does help me with any errors I have in spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. I then take this second version and deposit it over into a GDoc because it has it's own form of spellcheck that is more in tune to the flow of sentences and will catch misplaced words that are spelled correctly that another word processor would ignore. This then leads to:

Step 4: The upload!
Once I am certain that I have the best possible version of the story at the time, I head on over to here and throw it up for all to read.

So, now you all know. This is Raryn, saying to watch out for something within the next four or so hours.
