Three things I never thought I'd see on a MLP FanFiction website · 3:29am Jan 12th, 2012
I'm new to this website, and I wasn't sure what to expect when I showed up. I followed a link for a story here from Equestria Daily. (Not Unless you Mean It by Donny's Boy. I highly recommend it.) Here's what I found when I got here.
1. Clopfics
This one speaks for itself. How I found my way to the sketchy end of FanFiction was by first reading a story marked Mature for scenes of gore. I was asked if I was above the age of mature content in my country, and I truthfully answered yes.
Oh, how I regret this decision.
Later, I clicked on a story that was labelled as a series of short stories with various shippings in them. I read the first one. The worst part was, it started off like any other mediocrely written shipfic- awkward but cute moment, little bit of tension, leaning in for the kiss, making out on some piece of furniture- OH MY GOD, THAT'S NOT WHAT TWILIGHT'S HORN IS FOR!
But it gets worse! In my naivete, I thought that maybe the other short stories were less graphic, and this one was a fluke, so I clicked on the next!
It was only after discovering more than I ever needed to know about Pinkie Pie that I abandoned the story and un-checked the wayward 'Mature Content' button.
2. Shipping, to a whole new level
This goes out to Blueshift and Slag, authors of Airshipping is Magic and Special Delivery, respectively.
Blueshift's accurate blimp terminology and creative use of Trixieberg's 'gangplank' took a decisively weird idea and turned it into something worthy of about seven r eight legitimate LOLs, five stars, and an enthusiastically worded comment.
Meanwhile, Slag's story, while bordering on cloppy by the second and third chapters, was extremely entertaining.
If you haven't read either of those, you should.
I will never look at blimps the same way.
Or Santa Claus.
3. Human Trafficking?!
Am I the only one getting the weird advertisements telling me about the seemingly underage Asian women I can chat to, meet up with, and God only knows what else? Who advertises this on a My Little Pony website?!
So, to sum it all up, I'm pleasantly surprised by the talent and creativity of some authors on the site, and I now have full mastery of the Mature content filter.
Yay.
I guess that's the magic of MLP isn't it?
People with hundreds of different mindsets coming together with one single goal: PONIES!
And thank god for the mature content button, indeed.
