Crit Thread 3- Novelists' Corner · 2:04pm Jul 14th, 2012
So, I've been running IC crit threads on two chans- a SFW one on ponychan, and one that's specifically for handling clopfictions on FIMchan. I'm real proud of both of them- I've been able to encourage some of the finest pony writers the world's ever seen, often to the point that they burst forth into big public attention. Stonershy ran some of his first erotic writing by me on FIMchan, I've seen a bunch of ponies hit Equestria Daily- it's been really cool!
There's a new chan in town- one that is specifically working with ponychan /fic/ to broaden the support for pony writing on the internet (and be a backup in case anything goes wrong with ponychan /fic/), one which has on board !!Twilight mod formerly of ponychan (for me, this was a key hire- !!Twi is amazing and wonderful!)
And it's got a version of the Applejinx IC review thread- only there's a twist, since new threads are not replacements but cover stuff the previous threads can't handle.
This time, it's novelists ONLY- and you have to have written forty thousand words of poni fiction (in total) even to post to it. The other threads (especially FIMchan) are wide open to all readers and writers and anons to bring whatever input they want.
This one's the masterclass, and it's dedicated to long form writing, novel-length story arcs, and creating a whole, internally consistent universe that is STRONGLY related to MLP:FIM the show, typically with a few twists of the underlying axioms that make up the world. (for instance, in Trixieverse, characters have sex, and some backstories wouldn't fly on the Hub)
Some of my favorite ponies wouldn't qualify to post here (so KEEP WRITING, you're close to that magic 40K-in-total mark!). Some who don't post a lot, maybe they'll be more interested in doing so when the thread's specifically about them and what they do.
New experiment! Let's see where this goes. I can feel pony writing aching to extend beyond the metafics and one-off gags and attempts to get the feature box. We can do it!
