Entry #1- Origin Story · 4:29pm Mar 24th, 2015
Way back when, I didn't plan on watching 'Friendship is Magic'. As a Kindergartener, I had run home after school everyday to watch reruns of the first generation My Little Pony, so I have a soft spot for it. Although I've always been a fan of cartoons, the modern generation of MLP looked different than what I remembered, and I was almost sure I wouldn't like it. A small part of me saw the big anime-like eyes, and being an Anime fan, was intrigued. But I still wasn't sure.
Then, a friend from High School I respected posted a youtube of 'This Day Aria' on Facebook, and said it gave her chills. I watched it-and was spoiled forever- but I think that put me over the edge.
Put together those clues, and I must've started watching just when Season 2 ended. I was idly looking on Netflix streaming for something to watch, saw it and thought- why not try it? Although I was disappointed that the episodes weren't all adventure ones like the first too, it was adorable and I kept watching. Season two was quickly uploaded unto Netflix and I joyfully watched that too.
I found Pony pictures I loved on DeviantArt. Pony reviewers made me want to rewatch episodes. Animators and Musicians wowed me with their pony creations. Before I knew it, I was making fan art (http://fav.me/d5xyob1 ) and I was a silent member of the Fandom.
I should say that I've really enjoyed a lot of TV shows (mostly cartoons), and I've felt inspired to create fan art for them, too. But My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is the first show since the Sailor Moon dub back in the 90s that I've felt compelled to write fanfiction for. Drawings are easier for me to create, I've discovered. I can find the references I need, rough out how it's going to look, and then bam! Little more thought is needed before its done. I can listen to stories while I work.
Fanfiction needs more thought than that. Sure, I can plot out how I want the story to go, and some parts are easy to write, but in those darn details I have trouble. I can't say I've ever written something to my satisfied completion (when I complete it at all), but I wanna get better at that.
Currently, I'm writing a Snips and Snails fanfic about their Cutie Marks and what they'll used them for. I also have my own Doctor Hooves origin story, an alternate dimension mane six "what if", a story involving music five years in Ponyville's future, and a rewrite of a favorite childhood movie of mine using ponies bouncing around my head. I'm not a fast writer, and I update my art more often, so follow me at your own risk. But I do get inspired when I get a lot of positive feedback, so feel free to leave that.
Thank you for reading my ramblings!
