    Seven Years: An update

So... This is it. The seven year anniversary of Shadowbolts: a Memoir.
Earlier this year, I had hoped that I would have been finished by now, but fate intervened, delaying future chapters significantly. Furthermore, I want Chapter 24 to be the fitting capstone to everything written before, so I didn't want to rush it.

    Smoke Rises.... The Forge Awakens...

So... I have been away for a long time. Far too long, and I apologize. A brief thumbnail of the past year would be a new apartment, two jobs at once, two girlfriends, two breakups, and a much-needed rest at RTX... :ajsleepy:

An Update (in more ways than one)

    Hey everyone,
So first thing’s first, just to get it out of the way. SaM15 is currently about halfway done, but progress has been painfully slow on it recently.

Now onto the second part of this post, TLDR: I’m changing the rating of SaM to “Mature”, but I’m not drastically upping the graphic content.

Hello again.
I've got a new batch of photos to show off in Space Engineers, showing off a more stylized ship I've built. Geared to be the starting ship of a Survival map I intend to play with a group of my friends at college, allow me to present the Cardinal MK1 Colony Ship.

Designed to be a solely thematic ship, this one has a lot more artistry than gameplay practicality to it, mainly designed to be wrecked and picked over by raiders when the players find it. (I really made a mess of it, too) Despite this, this ship actually had some decent effort put into its design, providing escape pods, individual lighting systems and an internal camera network. It was my first step in using mods in my designs, providing the beds, desks, and cryo-tubes seen in the images later on. Below we have some shots of the ship in flight.

This blog will have four stages, one for each deck and a conclusion. Below, we have a tour of the Top Deck where the Primary Rescue Pods, Crew and Officer Quarters, Refinery and Assembly areas, and the Primary Bridge are located.

Main Hall

Refineries

Escape Pod

Officer Quarters (Accomodates three players, mirrored on other side)

Crew Quarters (Accomodates four per room, total of four rooms)

Assemblers and Med Bay

The Bridge (Seats seven: 1 Helmsman, 2 Gunners, 4 Observers)

Stats of the Ship

And now we move to the Midship, containing Engineering, the Cargo Hold, the Secondary Escape Pod, and Colonist Cryostorage.

Second Deck Hub

Second Deck Corridor

Secondary Escape Pod

Cargo Hold Catwalks

Reactor Room and Cryo-Storage (mirrored on the other side, three Large Reactors per room)

And finally, a brief look at the Lower Deck, which is basically the Cargo Hold Floor and the Secondary Airlocks for planetary landing

And finally, a shot of the Cardinal releasing its Escape Pods.

All in all, I'm proud of her, in an artistic sense, because of the level of thematic detail covered in her design. However, in an actual Survival Mode situation, she'd be pretty worthless for her cost, unless you have a lot of spare resources. Her power output of 625 Megawatts is utterly absurd, barely hitting 40%-50% usage even with all her Refineries and Assemblers going at full blast while in active flight, and would chew through whatever Uranium stores most players would have, unless an industrial-level mining operation had been established. Her light armor and pitiful defense of 30+ Interior Turrets, inside and out, (designed for plinking away at personnel and lightweight small ships) would make her a huge target for any decent raiding ship of Large Class or a moderate Meteor Shower. Plus, the thematic design of the escape pods is ridiculous for Survival, and you wouldn't have that many people on board anyhow. However, for what she was designed for, she's pretty darn beautiful, and I'm proud of her.

And that concludes my second Ship Blog. :pinkiehappy: If anyone is interested in getting the blueprints for this or any other ship I've featured so far, let me know in the comments.

Also, got the Prototype of my very first Heavy Cruiser in the testing stages now. (You can kinda see it in the background in a few photos) Will most likely show it off next blog or so.
Cheers, mates.
