Steel Heart

Sometimes it isn't the power of an army, but the conviction of one who saw through the lies.

Just another day in "paradise". · 10:33am Feb 4th, 2015

I've been writing chapters for my fics after a bout of personal problems, I really have.

But this... *sigh*...

I have been personally fighting this fire since it started, and let me tell you. It sucks.
The damn thing kept on jumping containment lines and fire breaks, burning everything without remorse. Originally I started out with "asset protection", defending the homes and livestock we could, and we did. At first it was just grass fires, then we were called up to the fire front, fighting the damn thing head on.

Over the past few days I've been surviving off 2-3 hours sleep a day. Needlessly say, I'm fucked, but that's not why I'm writing this blog.

The reason is because that this bushfire is going to, one way or another, hit the town. At the moment I'm just so frustrated that I want to punch something, all that hard work with at least a few hundred fellow fire fighters, will mean nothing if the winds change to the infernos favour, and the weather has been working in its odds since day one.

I grew up in Northcliffe. It's my home, and it's survived for the past 90 years through fire, flood and drought.

But now...

With all honesty, it's breaking my heart to see my childhood and home on the verge of being completely razed. The town was deemed "undefendable", and it also breaks my heart to say it is. Half my childhood memories will soon be turned to nothing but ash and soot. The thing at the moment is that we don't know how long till it happens. Could be days, could be hours. All I know at the moment is that my fellow fire buddies are out there doing thier best to contain it while I rest back home in Manjimup about 45 kilometers north.

So needlessly say, I'm not going to be writing for a while.

I'm so sorry:fluttercry:

Don't worry mate, just relax and keep going, if anyone could stop that fire it would have to be the all of those vollys, after all, no one defends better then those who live there

2769383 They've now brought in the army to try and help out, and they've downgraded the fire, but we're not out of the woods at the moment.
