Revision of The Seventh Element · 1:15pm Jan 29th, 2015
I have been writing (See: putting off for months at a time) my largest story, "The Seventh Element" for well over one year now, and as I read it every time I come back to write more, I notice something: the story gets worse as you go on.
Now, that may be a subjective opinion but as the author of the story I don't like when I'm not proud of the things I write every time I look at them. Because I gain experience, I feel like I become a better writer every time I start a new story or continue one I've been working on, but for The Seventh Element, for some reason I plateau when writing it and I can't find a way to make it better except for one: A complete and total revision of the story.
I like the ideas and headcanons that I was working with when I started the story. I like my OC, Argent Schild, who is another reason I'm re-starting the story. Argent has grown as a character so much since I started the story that it doesn't feel right continuing to write him the way that I do now in The Seventh Element.
So, I will re-start The Seventh Element. It will retain its title, Argent will still be the main character, and he will still be a human that winds up in Equestria as a pony through one magical folly or another. Everything after that is a blank canvas and I'm excited to see where that will lead. Hopefully this time it's something I can be proud of.
