Some time ago, a person come up with the idea of the mane six being portrayed by actual horse breeds and made art of each one. More recently, they re-made a screenshot from the show using such.
You can click the links to see the original post, but I'll include them under the page break. I love the designs, but I don't see how it would affect the story much seeing as they are text based.
Applejack, as a Palomino Appaloosa (yes, Appaloosa)
Fluttershy as a Cremello
Twilight Sparkle as a Dapple Gray (although I think that a Blueberry Roan would be a better choice)
Rainbow Dash as a Strawberry Roan
Rarity as simply a White horse
And Pinkie Pie as a Paint

No. It would be fun to in some ways, but like this is not really a visual medium. They look amazing and I love the designs, but it wouldn't really have any sort of affect on their personalities or capabilities. The only possible way I could see it as a story was perhaps if they woke up as such and were confused by the changes in their appearances. Otherwise it would have to be something that uses images more, such as a comic or ask blog with pictures for answers.
