It Begins · 8:24am Jun 30th, 2012
Well, it finally happened.
After weeks of brainstorming, planning, writing and rewriting, and dealing with my stuffy editors, I have finally decided to pop the cork on this little endeavor I have been mulling around on. A few of you that may start reading this tale I have begun might have a few questions that I have anticipated, or just assumed; take your pick.
First off is why I decided to do a Mass Effect Crossover. Its been done before, two iterations of it actually making it to EQD, namely the Pony Effect and the Magic Effect, and both of which I have read. I liked them a lot. They were well thought and well written, and kudos to the authors. But in reading them, I felt that while the way the authors told their stories worked, I noticed a different way of telling it altogether that they did not follow, one that I chose to do myself.
My primary inspiration for writing this came from finishing the original Fallout: Equestria by Kkat. It just struck me hard that such a fantastic story could be written about two of my favorite subjects, so I sought to attempt the same. Dragon age had been done, as many other of my favorite games, including Mass Effect. But not one written to the level of FoE. I do not think I could bring a Mass Effect cross over to the same level that Kkat brought with Fallout, but I'm certainly going to try. Here's to digging my own early grave.
So yes, a Mass Effect/ My Little Pony crossover that is NOT a Ponies in Mass Effect Universe or Replace Humans with Ponies. This is a Mass Effect in My Little pony. A metaphor I read on a crossover blog once said that the Core subject matter is much like a Painters Easel, while the other subject material is the paint, in which you weave the two together into a work of art. In this case, I am attempting to Paint Mass Effect over the ponies we all know and love. Am I crazy? Yes, but it wont stop me from trying.
But this is not solely a retelling of the plot from the perspective of a Pony Shepard. That would be silly. I assure you, without spoiling too much, that there is much more that meets the eye to what I have begun here, and certain realizations that may or may not surprise you. There will be similar advancements of plot in some points, with creative retelling of course. But as a whole, I have planned a unique adventure, and with the help of my equally insane editors, can bring it to the level of quality you will demand. All I can tell you is to keep on reading.
So please, as you read through this tale, lend me your thoughts. If you like it, tell me why. If you think it can be improved, tell me why. Most importantly to me, if you hate it, tell me why. It is your praise, your feedback, and your criticism that drives me as a writer, and as long as people demand it, I will not stop until it is all said and done.
