Ugh. Rant.

So, well, Ive never really had much use to actually...use this blog. I mostly enjoy coming into FimFiction to read and write and that has been pretty dandy for quite awhile now. But I have had this problem as of late that has got insanely annoying the last few months that Ive came onto the site to find a good read.

Now, I have no qualms against a nice short story. But I am seeing stories like..."Pinkie does something with a straw." - "Twilight gets an idea about sandwiches." - "Rarity, and the not very exciting shoelace." - Most of these things, are less than 1000 words. Have over 300+ Upvotes, and are getting thrown into the Popular story section.

Now, I'm not the best writer in the world and I am more than happy to give almost anything a chance. Ive even attempted to read some of these. And what did I find?

Every, Single, One, of them are absolute garbage.

Seriously? Are people just writing absolute dribble just to get peoples attention? And people are upvoting this?

And on reading these stories, even if the author seems like they actually have the brain cells to put together a decent story, they are all obviously created for the sole purpose of trying to get upvotes or downvotes, and thus they are getting far more attention than the stories that actually deserve attention.

I know I cant really say much, I'm only a starting writer myself. (I am proud of my 50k word story with 21 upvotes, thank you very much.) But...its getting to the point where the only thing I am doing is coming onto the site to see if I have any updates to stories I am currently following, and if not, sign off. It just isn't worth my time to find anything new. This makes me sad.

I have read plenty of 1000 word fics even in the comedy section that have been insanely funny, these though? Are not. They are annoying. I just wish people would stop posting them so I can find new authors that actually care about their stories and not just the upvotes you can get from them.
