Hello people I would like to ask a question about characters in general. This question might sound weird, but I want to know how do you guy's like your characters? To be more specific what characters draw you in make you want to know more or care more about them then other characters as a reader. For writers how do write characters if you use OC's, are they reflections of your personality, or people you actually now, or are they aspects of yourself that you want to improve? Anyway I just want a feel of my followers creative strategies I tend to keep to myself but thought "why not ask something" so ya I can't wait to hear your answers.

I did saw your post and sorry felt I need to add my views on it. I do hope this is a opinion discussion. I do write using a lot of O.C.s both my own and others. I think creating O.C.s it comes from a mix of all kinds of things. Case in point my persona... Eternal Shadows. I am a big fan of music all kinds from all kinds of genres. But the one genre that has most of my favorites is Metal. I all so love horror genre as far as movies goes. All kinds of horror, slasher, creature, supernatural, etc. I can go on and on about it. I also like to think a little on the crazy side from time to times. See everything just as it is to me is boring and not creative at all. So case in point a Lord who dwells in a realm that both exist and never existed at the same time. Insanity... His whole form is made up of living shadows that flock and cling to him. The sounds of Insanity are heavy and the when you here them they are not a whisper but a loud scream. You see a little of all my likes boom.
But then I got another O.C. call night he is kind of a downer I created him when I was going through a rough time I was stuck without a job. I lost a girlfriend a bit before that. It was a living hell. Nights attitude I am a failure don't tell me your problems I don't care. was how I felt at that time so he personified that. I got a dozen O.C.s each created using something different, a thought, A feeling, myself, loved ones, my likes and dislikes.
Now when it comes to reading characters I am drawn to ones I can feel I some what relate to. Take the series for example. The mane six are very relatable. To me twilight most of all. For the longest time I like to stick to myself not have any friends. It was not tell some came to me and offered to be a friend I got to know how much fun it could be to be around people and socialize. So Like twilight I started off not caring much rather I had friends or not. To cherishing the friends and always trying to make more.
Okay I think I covered everything... Sorry the comment was so long but I hope I might have answered your questions a little. This is just my insight though I assure everyone will think differently on the matter depending on the individual... Later.
2534971 To answer your question yes this is a opinion discussion post thanks for taking the time to post your insight. It's interesting how you personify your emotions to create a character, though insanity seems to me is more of an concept that creates issues like one persons trash is another persons treasure, one persons concept of insanity maybe a form of control or order but anyway may the shadows always be with you.

2535007 Well personally I like to create character's that have aspects of religion, society, philosophy/destiny, with the good and the bad.
2535021 Not a bad mold to use... Religion alone opens up so many possibilities because there is so many and some as old as time itself.
2535037 Well really it's more like the concept of religion, the belief blind or other wise will always create problems. Having faith and praising something that may or may not exist so in your afterlife you are happy forever really drives a sentient creature.

2535079 Well I am sorry to say I have not but it is because I have had a long list of fics saved to my read later list I have not really had times to find any new ones. But now that I looked at it I think it will be worth the read I am going to add it to my list and check it out. Are you into war stories?

2535146 I was just curious I was helping a friend set up a group page dedicated to different kind of war fics. As for me I like all kinds of genres when it comes to stories it is like my love for music. But again Horror holds a lot of my favorites.
2535156 Okay then I saw the conversation on making a war stories group, sounds interesting but it depends on the stories them selves.
2535169 I think it is supposed to fit any kind of war story both. More literal and more fictional sense. I mean the folders we came up with kind of says it all. Well mostly him I just did the description, banner, and icon... Okay and two folders. But either way it is worth checking out. I think your story will fit in perfectly.
