Kill The Moon · 2:22am Oct 5th, 2014
Interesting premise, pretty much reminiscent of Fires of Pompeii, Day of the Doctor, and, well, a bunch of other episodes where an impossible choice is forced against the protagonists like the dollar menu at McDonald's to the average college student.
Though the science needs to be taken with a truckload of salt, it isn't exactly anything world-shattering as this is Doctor Who; a series where a time-traveling alien with access to multiple lives and faces and somehow ends up as a white dude. So, while some roll their eyes over the incredulity of, well, whatever the Moon was, I'm enjoying the concept of the Moon.
It isn't just some silvery thing in the sky, created from the super-destruction of celestial bodies colliding, the resulting shrapnel and debris being pulled in by the intense heat and gravitational pull of the Earth and the surrounding proto-planets, it's some weird symbol of hope. This blazing spotlight in the endless nebula that signifies the hope and aspirations of everyone on Earth.
... Despite the weird abortion message the episode was pushing.
Clara making her choices and doing and saying the things to the Doctor that she did was important for us as a character. Clara is growing as a companion, as a person, and it's awesome. I very much look forward to the next episode!
