Reviewing due to boredom · 7:20am Jul 11th, 2014
(If you haven't watched Transformers 4 or Rio 2 and you intend to, DON'T READ THIS. I'LL POISON YOUR MIND.)
I don't know what to do right now, so I'll write this.
In the holidays, I watched two movies: Transformers 4 and Rio 2. I'm gonna review both of them in my own opinions.
Transformers: Age of Extinction
Since it was directed by Michael Bay himself, the movie was very action-packed. Seriously, explosions every few minutes. That said, the film focused more on the Transformers themselves than in the other three movies. Of course, the humans were the main characters, which included a dad from Texas and a paranoid government agent.
I found several things in the film that annoyed me. One of these was the fact that the only Autobots you get to see transform are Optimus and Bumblebee. Oh, and the Dinobots. As for the others, certain Tranformers turned into clouds of metal rather than having their parts awesomely shift into places to form a humanoid robot. (A feature that I've grown to like. A lot.)
Of course, Bay did something right with this film. It had a decent plot (notice I say decent, not superb) and good characters. I could say that they were two-dimensional, but I don't know what that means. There's also a mystery that involves [SPOILERS].
Rio 2
This one I really liked. However, because I'm a FUCKING COWARD I neglected to watch the awkward parts... which were probably the funniest.
Trouble was that I sort of ruined the film for myself due to me looking at it on Wikipedia beforehand. Goddammit.
I liked the addition of the new characters, mainly Blu & Jewel's kids. Nigel's new minions, the poison frog Gabi and an anteater who's basically Charlie Chaplin, were also a good addition. Nigel's relationship with Gabi reminded me of the Joker's relationship with Harley Quinn.
All in all, loved the film. Especially the part where [SPOILERS].
