Why our little corner of the internet is special · 11:40pm Jun 22nd, 2014
I don't know how many of you know this, but the internet can be a pretty terrible place. I mean a recipe for Rainbow cake turned into a flame war, so clearly it doesn't take much for people to start flinging poop.
I have a roommate, Jake. Good guy, most of the time, likes MLP but doesn't have a fimfiction account. I told him about an exchange I had in the comments section of a story and one night he hoped on my computer to add that story to a group that collects, " best of the worst stories out there". Why did he do this, because he likes to cause trouble in non obvious ways, or maybe he thought the fic belonged there, possibly both. Anyways the author found out that my account was used to add his story to said group. (Not actually sure how this happened)
So why am I telling you this? Because what happened next is unlikely to happen in most other corners of the internet. The author politely sent me a message asking why I added his story to a group that collected bad fics, I politely explained that it wasn't actually me, but that yes it probably was my account. I then politely asked the admin to remove the story, explaining what happened, which he politely did, (and then told me how , in the future, I could remove it myself).
No one called each other names, or attacked each other publicly. My comments on that story didn't get deleted. All in all everyone acted awesomely. (Cept Jake). Stay classy fimfiction.
