rant about upcoming new Phoenix Wright series ( A.K.A my worries for future of this game.) · 6:50am May 28th, 2014
I was just web-surfing and I happened to come across the Wiki page for Ace Attorney series and happened to find THIS little information on upcoming new Phoenix Wright games:
In April 2014, the game was revealed to be Dai Gyakuten Saiban - Naruhodō Ryūnosuke no Bōken (大逆転裁判 ‐成歩堂龍ノ介の冒険‐?, lit. Great Turnabout Trial - The Adventure of Ryunosuke Naruhodo), which will take place in the Meiji period (1868 to 1912) and focus on Ryūnosuke Naruhodō, one of Phoenix's ancestors, who is stated to have "a keen sense of justice and quick to put himself in danger".[14] The game's producer, Shintaro Kojima, stated that this game is the start of a new series entitled The Great Ace Attorney, separate from the main Ace Attorney games, and will be "quite different" from the previous Ace Attorney titles.[

there are several things I don't like it...
1. Writers seems to be ignoring the lose hole Duel Destinies has left. I mean several questions remain unanswered like who hired Phantom? Why were they after the moon stone in the first place? Will the "Dark Age of Law" ever end? ect. And writers and creators are just saying "meh screw it, present Phoenix Wright series are finished, lets go to the past! What the heck! From the article it seems that they are attempting to make a brand new series and... while I am usually all for things starting new and fresh ( like Pokemon Black/White) I don't like it when writers ignore the "unanswered question" and just "reboot" the series... Since it takes in the past it means we will probably never see our beloved characters like Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Dick Gumeshoe, Apollo Justice ,Athena Cyckes... ( Apart from few cameos of Phoenix Wright since main character is said to be ancestor of him but even then THAT isn't guaranteed!)
so yeah, I was hoping that they would at least conclude the lingering question and then they would start a new series but nope! they are going to ignore it like it never happened....
speaking of which... WE DON'T EVEN GOT ANSWERS TO UNANSWERED QUESTION IN APOLLO JUSTICE GAME! MAINLY DO APOLLO AND TRUCY EVER MET THEIR MOTHER? DID JURIST SYSTEM EVER GOT BACK? GRRR THIS IS PISSING ME OFF!
2. HOW THE FRAG ARE THEY GOING TO LOCALISE IT! As you may know one of strength of Ace Attorney series is that it is "localised" into west quite well. Apart from few hiccups on spelling and grammar errors ( most infamous one being "miracle never happen"), the plot and the setting fit into western setting quite well and for the most part western audience could understand plot of the story quite well. And NOW it is set in Japanese past, ( specially Meiji period) how on EARTH are they going to localise? Are they going to say " Hey this takes in western times!" Also since it is set in unique Japanese history, are they going to bring more unique Japanese mysteries? Like Mysteries that involve Japanese Alphabet like in Detective Conan series? I feel that this is another case of Japanese companies not caring about the west as it is said by Gaijin Goombah in this video:

... I feel that creators of Ace attorney series decided to isolate themselves from western audience and makes me doubt that it will even get an official translation... I mean how many western fans are going to be familiar with Japanese history? How many would know setting of Meiji periode like today's society. I tell yer not many... and yet they are going to make one... just makes me feel disappointed and feel like it is end of "open" Ace Attorney series.
2152047 I already know about Meji era... I did a second year paper on it and read a book about it! What I am concerned about is normal Western fan that never read a history book! I mean you don't expect every single Ace Attorney fans would know every single aspect of Japanese history do you?
2152047 Also Half life is as far as I know action 3rd person shooter which story is not as important. Ace Attorney is Visual Novel! As name suggests, Visual Novel's main focus is story! About 90% or 80% of game is a story driven! Of cause continuation of plot is important!
2152075 you are forgetting that Visual novel has almost nothing left apart from the story and Phoenix Wright games so far just handed down a story to us. I mean apart from investigating and deducing mystery Phoenix Wright games involve heavy text reading. ( Not much as more traditional Visual novels like Fate/Stay night but still!) Even in Apollo Justice, it answered why Phoenix isn't Attorney anymore and why he has a daugher at the end of the game.

in this case it is not even laziness... I mean did you even see the videos... it is just them not giving a crap to western audience and say "F!@# You West we are going to do what we want!
" They are just isolating themselves.... 
And I was positive about Ace Attorney series' great localisation. 
I was so proud on great stories and now I will probably never going to play it and see it.
It is more disappointment for me than anything else.

I know that people aren't perfect... But I LOVE this series and I want to them to do better you know. I can see so many potential in this series and yet they do things like this... I feel disappointed. You know just like people like Linkara rants about how "One More Day" has ruined Spider-man comic series, I feel smiler way about this issue.

I don't think so... they are critics, advisers giving advises to improve film/comic/games.
2152137 let me get this straight ... so you think fans should not have opinion on things? Criticism isn't a futile on things already dealt because by criticising we can look forward and learn our mistakes. For example, due to many outrages about Batman and Robin, the driector of that film apologised and new director for batman and Robin actually learned from that mistake and created Lillian trilogy called Dark Knight series. It dose not mean that bad film will go away, the criticism serves as things that we can learn from. So that if any future director/writer/ game programmer is there they can listen to critics such as "Nostalgia Critic/Linkara ect and learn from the mistakes. After all isn't history a big criticism of the past?
