Okay, so recent viewing of S4 finale has revealed that ponies do believe in Tartarus; the Greek equivalent of Heaven and Hell and all things Underworld. But that gets me thinking; What if the ponies believe in other Greek cultures, the architecture of Rainbow Dash's cloud house is Greek, and what if they even believe in the Greek Gods, or don't believe but just assume that's where som of their influences come from. They could even be completely oblivious to it, but anyway, you know *other good example I can't think of using big words I pretend to fully understand*
What if Celestia and Luna are just Apollo and Artemis. Just think; Hera didn't watch over the magical ponies so she sent the twins to watch over them, and raise the sun and moon. When Luna was banished it was really just their excuse to let Artemis go and fight some titans or some other thing that was threatening mortals.
If you are familiar with the Percy Jackson series (you should be, I mean really, you don't live till you've read of a sassy thirteen year old waterbender who saves the world uh, let me count the books, like nine times) then you could assume that the cool haiku loving poet known as Apollo raiser of the sun would totally be down for become a magical and super powerful horse who's only job was basically just to do what he already does. He just had to become a mare.
I imagine that Artemis took a little more considering, she would miss her hunters and the mortals even, she's also very stubborn but she would have felt that her little brother needed help in magic horse world so she went along, but always on call in Olympus and the Earth so the banishment was made up.
Anyway, there we go, Celestia is just the Greek God Apollo, the one responsible for raising the sun, creating music and poetry and stuff, and his big sister Artemis, Greek Godess of the moon and hunt, and a forever maiden is Luna.
Think that over for me and yeah just think about it, write a fic about it and everything, I'll be here expanding my knowledge of the Greek gods and MLP and maximizing my headcannons. Bye!

P.S. Or it could just be the writers not being able to say the word 'Hell' in front of a bunch of little girls and boys and I'm just taking this way to seriously.
