    Dishing out points for 2014

Well, here we are. The semis are over and done with, and we have our list of 26 songs for the final, so now I can go ahead and proclaim myself the least cool person on the planet by dealing out my points. Usual rule: It goes from 1 through 8, 10 and 12, and I can't vote for my own country.

    Slovenia, 1 point.
    Malta, 2 points.
    Italy, 3 points.
    Montenegro, 4 points.
    Armenia, 5 points.

    Eurovision 2014 - It's That Time Again (part 1)

    Sooo...

First off, my apologies for not writing more stuff. Not overflowing with ideas, and while I know that the writer's mantra is "write!", I feel no need to publish what I'd perceive as inferior material. When (not if) I get new ideas for stories, I'll get started again. Promise.

Alright, now I'm a little unhappy

To whoever had the glorious idea of submitting "Love Will Set You Free" to the Canterlot Archives: Thank you for making my day just a little less bright. I know that what I write is not top-tier stuff (which is what the Archives are all about), but I really did not need someone else telling me in words that were none too kind. I can handle brutal criticism of my work when I ask for it - as a

    Oof. Semis are exhausting.

Well, about half an hour ago, we got our 10 qualifiers from the second semi, to go along with the Big Five, the host, and the 10 qualifiers from Tuesday night.

Need...sleep... · 3:46am May 27th, 2012

Whew. It's half past five in the morning, and I'm writing a blog entry. I really should be asleep right now.

That was a fascinating Eurovision, to be sure. A few points worth noting: Sweden won deservedly, if by far too big a margin; Russia managed to defy the (probably) hostile juries and finish second; the UK got rated WAY too badly (as one could probably tell by the title of my fic, I love that song to pieces, and I'm massively disappointed that Europe decided to give it the cold shoulder); and I'm surprised that Germany managed eighth place. Also, Spain finally managed a top 10 finish again, for the first time since 2004 (still trailing behind Germany, though. Ha! ;) ).

Oh, and for the record: I'm rather proud that Anke Engelke, giving out Germany's voting results, managed to slip in a few choice words about the rather questionable situation in Azerbaijan concerning democracy and freedom of speech (I'm not going to go into detail on that topic; there's a lot of stuff out there about it already), and that she managed to do so without coming across as condescending or a party pooper. The EBU accept broadcasters from countries with questionable human rights situations (Belarus is another example), so these countries are allowed to take part in the ESC, and are allowed to host it if they win. Fair enough, but leaving something like that completely unmentioned just felt wrong, and I'm glad Ms. Engelke tried to rectify the situation in some small way.

Fortunately, next year's host country won't offer problems like that. Off to Sweden. Oh, and don't think just because 2012 ESC season is over that you can escape it now, at least not unless you stop reading my fics. "L'amore รจ femmina" will continue using song titles as chapter titles. First plan: the prologue will be "Suus" (Albania), chapter 1 is "Nije ljubav stvar" (Serbia), and chapter 2 is "Vida minha" (Portugal). Subject to change, obviously.
