    Here We Go

As anyone who cared most likely noticed, the Chaos is Harmony fic got pulled because the first chapter seemed a bit too plagiarized. Or something. Either way, I'm in the process of proving that I can rewrite 1984 without it being exactly like 1984. It's taking longer than I expected.

    Plans for Chaos is Harmony

Seeing as the story seems to be doing well, I figured I'd make a sort of "Behind the Scenes" post before I go on.

Seeing as the story seems to be doing well, I figured I'd make a sort of "Behind the Scenes" post before I go on.

DON'T READ UNLESS YOU CAN HANDLE MILD SPOILERS

I did try as much as I could for the first chapter to keep as close to the Orwell as possible, giving it the same sort of feel for the start. However, going forward, this may not be the case. As a matter of fact, I sort of have three different scenarios as to how this could end:

1. It's a straight ponification of the original. That means nothing about the plot really changes, and the ending stays the same.
2. Character-driven ponification of the original. This means that whereas it will most likely achieve the same end, but will take a quite different course along the way, given the characters included. For instance: Whereas Winston in the novel is well-suited in hiding, and is generally very mellow and down-to-earth, Rainbow Dash is brash, bold, and likes to do things her way. And, of course, Fluttershy is not exactly the seasoned underground rebel that Julia was. So, many, many discrepancies between it and the original.
3. Entire reworking/changed plot. This means the course of events could change very, very drastically (think possibly like the flash-sideways from LOST), and it could come out in a completely different ending.

The main thing going for the two latter options is the ability to manipulate Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's unique characters; Rainbow Dash is the element of Loyalty, and she is forced to be loyal to something she hates. Fluttershy is the element of Kindness, which would probably create some great inner turmoil living in a world modeled on distrust and hatred.
Most of all, I'm looking forward to the last few chapters. How quickly would Rainbow Dash "give up" Fluttershy, considering her loyalty? Would she at all?

I'll keep you all posted with any interesting developments here.
NOW, BACK TO TYPING RIGOROUSLY
