Fans vs Haters · 10:48am Apr 9th, 2014
While both fans and the haters of these fans are highly prevalent in the MLP community, it is also seen in many other things. While I hate the haters (like most Bronies out there), something I sometimes find more annoying are the fans.
When I first became a Brony, I knew what to expect when I searched for MLP-related content on a site that isn't specifically made for it, such as Youtube. I knew that there would always be the people that would hate things that they don't understand or automatically think badly about the group because they just thought what they like is weird. It's all common sense if you know anything about the human race. It doesn't help that there are those outgoing people out there who post some of the weirdest crap that the world has ever seen on those sites...
What I wasn't expected was the totally hardcore aggression of the fans in reply to these haters. I've always understood the concept of "Don't judge it until you've seen it", but many people, including myself, don't follow that rule. Before I became a Brony, I thought that this fandom was quite strange for enjoying this sort of show and the massive amount of fan-made content that sprouted from it. However, when I did become a Brony and started to actively search for new content, I finally saw how many people out there were haters. Like I already said, what surprised my were the fans' responses to the claims that these people put forward.
After watching my first MLP video on Youtube, I scrolled down just to see what people were saying about it. The first thing I saw was a hater making obvious illogical statements. After pointing these statements out and getting his attention focused on me instead of the video, I looked through more comments. I was flabbergasted at what a lot of the fans were actually saying. There were the ones who said the whole Don't Judge saying, but most of them were actually trying to force their view of things on the haters. There were actually more fans doing this than there were haters.
This is when I realized what has been in front of me during history classes and in a bunch of other situations. People will go much further to defend what they believe than to attack what they don't believe in.
