T&F and MLP: FIM similarities

There are some characters from T&F and MLP: FIM characters that are similar to each other. For example, Edward and Shining Armor are similar because while Shining Armor is Twilight's older brother, you think that it's the same with Thomas and Edward, because Thomas may look up to Edward as if he was like his older brother. Another thing about the two shows I find similar is between Gordon and Rainbow Dash. Gordon and Rainbow Dash are both blue, they're very fast, and if their friends are in trouble, they're loyal to the core. They also have a habit of boasting that they're the fastest. This is just what I think I want to hear what y'all have to say.
