Thoughts- It Ain't Easy Being Breezy · 3:01am Mar 4th, 2014
I have a Scottish accent now. Scottish accents are cool. Those two sentences pretty accurately summed up my favorite things in this episode.
Hello again everyone! Spirit 0f Chaos here with my Thoughts on the latest episode! Now to be honest, I have relatively little to say about the main episode compared to some other, smaller things; half of you just sighed in relief I know. The other half didn't even get this far.
Ok, let's start off with the primary new thing introduced in this episode- the Breezies! Looks like we finally got some fairy like creatures in Equestria that won't destroy everything you know (when some stupid unicorn tries to fix everything anyways). I don't know if we were supposed to react to the breezies the same way the ponies were, but I didn't really. Maybe I'm just jaded. This doesn't mean I didn't like them, I did, I just wasn't going "ERMAGHERD THESE THINGS ARE SO BUCKING CUTE!!" On a side note, watching Pinkie do exactly that was pretty entertaining.
Seabreeze though (Seabreeze? Sea Breeze? I dunno.) is a whole different story. I loved Seabreeze so much during the course of this episode it verges on fanboyism. I didn't really like him right off the bat, but I warmed up to him by the end. Why? Let's see- his accent (I'm going with Scottish personally), his character arc (this arc was really relatable for me, as well as just really enjoyable to see resolve), and his motivation. I got some pretty good feels from seeing him with his kid. Although I did have an awkward moment when I realized I couldn't tell the male from female in that race...
Fluttershy was also pretty enjoyable this episode. Episodes which don't revolve around her shyness seem few and far between, and this one was particularly inventive (at least to me) and very enjoyable. I can't really recall an episode about Fluttershy being the element of kindness off the top of my head. Now that I think about it, that's been a pattern for a lot of episodes this season. Every one involving rainbow eyes in fact...
Ok, let me just get this out of my system- if we open that box and find the Elements of Harmony, I'm going to be pretty bucking upset. All right then, moving on-
So let's see here, we've gone over Breezies, Seabreeze, Fluttershy, what's next? Oh yeah! Standout parts!
First off- Roseluck and Time Turner. If you're a Dr. Who fan, you just read that as "the Doctor and Rose." Seriously, that reference wasn't subtle in any way, shape, or form, but I loved it so much it hurts. That one second was all I could think about for most of the episode afterwards.
Second- Fluttershy in her bee costume. No comment.
Thrid- Rarity and her layers of fabulosity. That got a pretty good chuckle out of me, I'll admit it.
Last of all, the pegasus animation in this episode. The way they used the wings in this episode really caught my eye. You know, just the tips moving? Although I was a bit distracted by wondering how they were staying aloft with so little lift. Ever a critic.
Oh how did I forget- Mane 6 Breezies! That was friggin awesome. Again, I was a little distracted by a lot of questions circling my head (Why the heck did the castle have a shape-shifting Breezie spell? Can that work on any creature, not just Breezies/ponies? Will we see this in a future episode?), but I was able to forget them as soon as I heard their voices. SO SQUEAKY CUTE!!!! Again, side note- I really hope we actually get to see a Griffon RD. Perhaps they're going to use that to bring back Gilda!
On second thought, maybe RD shouldn't be a griffon. Good call Twi.
Ok, last thing, I promise- poor Spike. He just can't win.
So, my score for this episode? 3.75/5. Most of my enjoyment for this episode came in little things, aside from Fluttershy and Seabreeze. Solid episode with some really nice parts in it. Thanks for reading guys; I'll see you next time!
