A Marine and His Ponies is almost done!!!!

Gentlemen, ladies, Mafia; I just had a sudden revelation. Why don't I just edit a few more chapters, take out the old ones that haven't been edited, and put it back out for you all to read? My plan here is to edit two more chapters beyond where I am now, re-do the whole first chapter as in a new location, still getting Ayman al-Zawahiri, and just making it a longer battle. Does that sound good?

    Back from the dead.

Alright Mafia, as you all have noticed I haven't done much with a Marine and His Ponies. However, today I woke up and just started to write. I've edited two chapters already and I'm definitely not going to stop with just those two. I've finally been wanting to write again instead of just saying fuck it, I don't want anything to do with it.

First chapter question for you all. · 4:54am Feb 24th, 2014

Mafia, I got a question for you all. Right now I'm editing a chapter, but what just came to mind, would you guys like to see a different first chapter? Just a different mission that James was on instead of being in the Helmand province, he'd be somewhere else say in like the Badghis Province. This is also the location of former MSOT 8222 which operated in the Bala Murghab (pronounced Morghab) river valley. You can find more of their story over at Level Zero Heros. I also suggest that you take a look at their film (Infil_Exfil) that was done by combat camera. I paid money for it when I first saw it on SOFREP.com, a site run by former and few current SOCOM members, but it's free now. If you want to join their SOFREP it's $3.99 for a standard membership.

Anyway, let me know what you think about doing a new mission for the first chapter, it'll be the last chapter edited before I start any brand-new chapters.

One last thing. As some of you may or may not know, I'm in college. As of late though, I've been hating it more and more than ever before and am SERIOUSLY contemplating dropping out so I can do what I really want with my life, because I'm really only going to school for my Dad's sake. I've been thinking about either getting into Recon as my MOS because MARSOC is one you have to wait for. I've also been really REALLY contemplating joining the SEALs too, but it feels like I'd be just stabbing the Corps in the back because that's the branch I've preached for so many years. Any thoughts on this? I've always hated school and wanted to just be done with it, so any input is excellent. With that, back to editing!

A lot of Special Forces units hold a high respect for knowledge. All you need to do is get a bd in something you enjoy doing or what feels like a calling. I'm going for a degree in Law Enforcement. Maybe take ROTC or somethingthat ties in with your choice

1869633 Well the thing is, I'm not going through for anything I would enjoy. Civil engineering is just math math math, and math sucks donkey dick. I've always hated math, and school in all. I know it's important and it will REALLY get you a leg up in the military, but honestly, I'd never even use my degree anyway. I don't plan on leaving the military unless I'm too old, or in a box. Which ever comes first.

1874714 did you try Law Enforcement? Or try a easy course.

I agree with Jman, try to get a degree in something. And even if it's not something that you like 100%, that can still be used to your advantage because you still got the degree. It says something about your determination to get whatever it is you set your mind to done.

1875592 Sorry for a late reply to you both. I've been through one semester already, took courses for civil engineering and just some other bullshit classes still needed for it. Passed all with a piss poor C (could have been a plus or minus, but FRCC does whole grades). Regardless, it just bugs the fuck out of me that I'm of age, able bodied and minded, and ready to make some bad dudes have a bad fuckin day, but I'm not able to get in. Law enforcement never came to mind when I picked my major honestly, and I kind of feel like that would have been a WAAYYY better choice than engineering. I reckon it would be a good idea to at least get my bachelor's, that's what Chris Kyle did anyway. Still, I've been talking to a lot of people and trying to better make my judgement on this.

1889724 I mean, as long as your not under the GI Bill, you can change your course as many times as you want. The reason the Bill WON'T do it is because the military is already paying for almost everything. Last thing they want to here is that you want to change course and waste their money. Also, I here to former US cutting the military size to. You may want to ask a recruiter about it.

1890636 Well I'm not under govt. contract and couldn't be anyway because I haven't served or even been to MEPS for that matter. And yes, the president has decided to cut military pension, personnel, and equipment to pre-World War II era size. That's kind of the second thing that killing me. I don't want to go in and have them say I can't do anything, that'd just be a waste of time that I could have spent being a PMC or even just flying my ass over and kicking some ass. I easily could change my major, but I have very little money, like 600 bucks to my name, so it's pretty hard to just up and change it really. Regardless, there's many factors that are preventing me from it, so it's a really confusing and pain in the ass issue.
