Yep, I've finally surpassed 100 followers! Now at 101! Bow before me! (I kid)
Anyway, fanfiction progress has stopped due to my getting "Gimme Shelter" up to snuff for The Royal Guard. It was rejected the first time out for telling and emotional exposition, and thanks to my prereader from the guard and the proofreader who offered their services in the Looking For Editors group (as well as some of my own efforts. Seriously what was I thinking when I wrote "this stallion who could be a potential savior" instead of "this potential savior"?) it's now 40 words shorter and flows a lot better (notably, if it was all word removals or shortening it would have been 60 words or so shorter). I'll look it over one more time tomorrow then resubmit with a huge list of changes. You may yet see it in the Royal Guards' posting.
On to a review, now: You know you're in for a ride when the preview has you going "Wut?" and that's what I got out of this one. A very strange, if surprisingly entertaining ride. At the beginning we learn that Rarity has been selected to do the decorations for the upcoming celebrations. Skipping ahead a bit to the arrival of Trenderhoof (without forgetting to mention Rarity's crush on the writer, including stalker shrine) and Rarity showing him Sweet Apple Acres with him developing a crush on Applejack. That was out of left field, but enjoyable.
Watching Rarity's breakdown, after his developing a crush on AJ, though was not enjoyable, and in fact was kind of annoying, as was Trend's, ah, love of AJ which started to get ridiculous. however, watching Rarity become a farm pony was funny, and watching AJ become a fashionable pony made it all worth it. Also the Aesop and ending worked well for the episode.
Overall an 8 out of 10 with Rarity's wangst being my biggest issue.
