Happy New Year + Princess Update #2

Welcome to 2014! Last year was a crazy one for ponies, but I personally enjoyed every second of it. Here's to an equally entertaining run this year!

And with the new year came a new chapter of Princess. After overthinking it for more than a month, I resolved to put it out before 2013 ended, since any longer would be reaching a ridiculously long wait. As it was, this chapter took way longer than I intended, but it has vastly improved from the first draft. The very first draft had a completely unnecessary plot device, and I cringe just thinking of how in the world I thought that would pass. I was also going to take a completely different direction with Twilight and the repercussions of dark magic, but it felt so abrupt and OOC that it was scrapped pretty early on. I might do more in-depth editorials just for kicks after the story is done, but I don't want to go too far into the specifics lest I spoil the final act.

The next chapter is going to be a bit shorter than the rest, assuming the length doesn't run away again. The final one is looking to be a little over 3k at this point, versus the approximate 4k length of the first and present-shortest chapter. If all goes well, it should only be a short while before it's ready to be published, as it's already completely written. It just needs a little tuning up to flow with the third chapter since it was initially part of the same act and contained much of the same explanation that has already been addressed. Last time I gave a rough estimate I completely overshot it, so this time I'll just say 'it's coming.' Life can't jinx me for that one, right? Right.

EDIT: Okay, so I had hoped the length wouldn't run off, but of course it has. Epiphanies are a blessing and a curse. Final chapter may take a bit longer than anticipated, but said epiphany is going to make it much more... exciting than the original.
