It seems that those with more followers(at least 100) can get away with publishing things that a less popular novice writer can't get published.
A little while ago I submitted a story, and the concept was denied, because the concept was against one of the rules, which I guess I didn't fully understand. I was fine with not fully comprehending the rules and learned from it. That is, until I see the same concept, with mass gory murder added, sitting right there in the featured box. only difference I can tell is that that story seems to be pointless murder, and that the author has a several hundred more followers.
Even though you may say it was likely better written, it was the concept that was rejected when I tried posting it.
Further research showed that when rules were obviously broken(or seemed to push the limits enough to be questionable), such as a pony version of something previously existing(something I always thought should have a crossover tag) didn't have a crossover tag. As well as other various stories that seemed to bypass regulations, and excluding a couple outliers, every one of those authors had over a hundred followers.
