The Navy and its Impact · 5:09am Nov 21st, 2013
So, I've only told a few good friends about this, but for the past couple months, I've been going through all of the paperwork and processing required to join the US Navy. As many of you may have noticed, this has caused a slow down in chapter updates from me and completely stalled my readings. That said, as of yesterday, I am a Future Sailor awaiting my ship date of the 25th of March. This does not, unfortunately, mean postings will pick back up. If anything, you all, you amazing bunch of people who have deigned to follow me and my stories, will have to be even more patient with me.
Being in the DEP (Delayed Entry Program for those who didn't know) still requires that I prepare for bootcamp. This entails not just an exercise regime (which is going to be an experience as I've never exercised a day in my life since I never really needed to), but memorizing and learning a shitload of terms, orders, positions, etc. Because of that, my writing ability will be severely slowed, though I will still fulfill editing obligations to those I currently work with.
Anyhow, Cheers everypony!

Well good luck in the Navy Inky Jay.

Wonder what ship you'll be assigned to?
1526873
Well, after basic, I've still got about a year and a half in Charleston, South Carolina for schooling for my field. Only after that do I get my first permanent assignment.
1526906 Dang.... you're going to be busy! At what rank do you start at btw?
1526910
I'm already a Seaman (E-3), and once I finish my schooling, I get an immediate advancement to Petty Officer Third Class (E-4).
1526975 Niice officer.
1527007
Hahaha! Not really. Petty Officer is just a designation. I'll still be pretty low on the totem pole. Within just the enlisted ranks (not including Chief Warrant Officers or Commissioned Officers), there are still six ranks above me.
