This is Minnesota and Northern No.1. She was built in 1868 for the Minnesota and Western with a large Balloon stack and burned wood before being rebuilt as a coal burner in 1900. At the time the Minnesota and Western had reorganized itself under the name of Minnesota and Northern because its vision now was in the Yukon gold country.
This is the No.5, a baldwin mogul built in 1903 for the North Branch and Northern. In 1910 is was in a wreck that caused it to be rebuilt in its current configuration with the front mounted compressor and Walscherts Valve gear. It was acquired by the Minnesota and Northern in 1915 when the NB&N went under due to low work load.
This is the 540, a Baldwin built in 1930 for Timken Roller Bearings. As she traveled, showing off her easy maintenance to the railroads of America, she was damaged while under Northern Pacific control. The Minnesota and Northern decided to buy her and rebuild her before making her the flagship engine of the entire road. (Drawing is currently in progress. Needs tender trucks and some other such things.

Looks great! I'm lucky enough to live in Minnesota, and have seen the same model of locomotive as no.1 at the museum in Duluth! Not sure if it was the same locomotive though...
1516254 The No.1 you saw, which just happens to be my favorite 4-4-0, is the William Crooks. He was the first steam locomotive in Minnesota in 1863 I believe.
