Dear Princess Celestia,
There are a few sentences that are intrinsically cursed. These include: "What could possibly go wrong?", "It can't get any worse than this", and "It's not like X will just [method of entry]!"
Today, I learned that "I wish something interesting would happen." belongs in that list.
To summarize, I had been walking into the kitchen to grab a quick snack when my mother pulled me over. She said that I should get my shoes on and look outside, and that "I'm gonna want to see this." I walk outside, to find a gaping hole in the fence around our yard, car parts littering the lawn, and a police car parked off to the side. It turns out somebody ran a stop sign, crashed into our yard, and had his car get pretty beaten up by the steep hill our lawn is on.
The moral of the story is, whenever you feel bored, express it in a way that doesn't invoke Murphy's Law.
