    PoNoWriMo :(

So Everfree happened. I had an absolutely fantastic time and met a bunch of fantastically awesome people. I also entered a speedwriting competition and then epically failed at both understanding the prompt and writing a one-shot. I am not a good one-shot writer. I write long stories. It's just my style.

    LAPTOP!

I'm actually writing this blog post as I'm writing the next chapter of Direction, jumping between the two when I get stuck on the chapter. That will probably be why it feels so disjointed.

Fun with stupid summer camp activities

It's nearly 1 AM and I'm working in the morning so I gotta be quick.

I had a little too much fun writing this last chapter, mostly because it gave me an opportunity to make fun of all the stupid things my camp counselors did when I first arrived at summer camp. I didn't actually make fun of too much of it, but I still definitely enjoyed myself a little more than I usually do.

Can you tell I'm not happy? I hope you can tell I'm not happy. I'm not happy. Did I tell you I'm not happy?

Okay, I've run out of ways to phrase that. Let's move on to the why.

On hiatus? Not exactly... · 6:21am Apr 18th, 2012

Okay, this is another blog post where I apologize at the beginning, so if you really don't care how fast this story gets updated as long as it gets finished you can just skip it. I promise you that I'm finishing this story unless something unforeseen happens to me and I die. Let's not give too much thought to that scenario, though.

So I put the story on hiatus. What does that mean? Well, to me it means that I don't plan on updating for a while.

Sorry.

Before you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screen, let me explain. A lack of updates does not mean that I won't be writing. I just won't be writing much, and I'm going to stockpile some chapters. I want to get to the point where I feel comfortable releasing the last five (Or maybe more, though I only have plans for ten right now) chapters on a weekly schedule. Hopefully this means my next update will be the second week of May, and I'll finish up in June. That's the schedule I'm going to try and stick to.

Why am I going on hiatus now? Well, let me complain about my life for a bit. (Seriously, give some thought to just skipping this. I put a little summary at the bottom just for you!)

I'm on a set crew for a musical (the people who build the set and also run the backstage aspect of the show). The musical is performing next week.

Here's my schedule this week and next week: Wednesday and Thursday, go to school by 8 AM, go to stage crew after school 'til 6 PM, go home. Friday, go home right after school. Saturday, go to school at 9 AM and stay there until the rental truck we're using to haul the set pieces is loaded, probably around 5 PM (This means I'm missing the Royal Wedding, BTW). Sunday, go to school at 9 AM, get on a bus to go to the theater we're performing in, get back to school at 8 PM. Monday, half day of school, get on a bus at 12:30 and go to the theater for a tech run until 10 PM. Tuesday through Thursday, go to school by 8 AM, get on a bus at 2:45, get back to school at 10 PM. Friday, get to school by 6:45 AM, get on a bus, do a matinee show for grade school kids at 10 AM, take a lunch break, get ready for another show at 7 PM, go home after that show, probably don't sleep until 10:30, meaning a 16 HOUR DAY. Saturday, sleep in, lament the fact that Season Two is over, go to school at 2 or so for to get on a bus, get back home at 10 again. Sunday, go to school by 10 for a 2 PM matinee show, strike the set after that's over, probably don't get home until 10.

Now you know why drama people call this week "hell week".

I might, might write some this week, particularly Friday, and I also might write some Saturday morning of tech week, but basically I'm going to be out of commission.

This is why I'm putting the fic on hiatus.

To make up for it, I have some things to talk about that might make rereading the first few chapters a bit more fun. You know, if you want to. You don't have to or anything.

THIS IS YOUR SPOILER WARNING! If you like figuring out things like symbols and metaphors out for yourself, don't read further. These are more hints than outright spoilers, though, so bear that in mind.

-Ever notice Jack's diet? His bed sheets? Have you listened to the second part of the second verse of "Summer" recently? Look carefully, you'll notice that color plays a significant role in telling you how Jack and the other characters feel.

-I made a reference to another one of my favorite fics, but it was incredibly subtle. See if you can find it. Your hint is that the referenced fic is one of my top 5 on my userpage.

-KnightHawker got close to a full picture of what Jack's dream means. Yes that was intentional. But go back and reread the two different sequences. What's different about them? With the revelation at the end of Chapter Five this should be fairly easy.

-Jack doesn't seem like the most reliable guy, does he? Combine that with the fact that he's popping painkillers and it's almost like... naw, I wouldn't do that to you guys, would I?

That's all I can think of right now since it's 11:15 and I need to go to bed, but there's other stuff in there as well, and most of it is in fact intentional. I'm in an AP English class, I want to make use of all those things I learned about. I'm also doing a ton of foreshadowing, but I'm not about to come out and say what is foreshadowing and what is not because that would be like actual spoilers.

In other unrelated news I've finished two chapters of my Doctor Whooves fic. That'll be released sometime in July, and I'll post a new chapter every day for a week or two.

Summary: The story will not be updated until May. I don't know if that's what "hiatus" usually means on FiMFiction, but that's what it means in this instance. Have a good end-of-April.
