Not Dead

Hi Chickens,

Writing a little update to let you guys know I am still alive and working on things. I know I was hoping to get things out a lot sooner and am sorry it's been so long since I posted anything. This post is to let you know why I've been so long without any new stories and what I've been doing all this time.

As mentioned in my last post, I am planning to spend November writing for NaNoWriMo. It will be my first time entering into the challenge and really wanted to test myself to see if I could hit the goal before going into it in November. I wanted to test it by writing something a bit bigger in scale than anything I've written before, and so wanted to make sure I had planned the story fully before beginning writing it.

Problem was, I had these fun idea, but couldn't execute them. I did the planning for a whole story about Celestia and Luna's rise, and even wrote the first few thousand words before giving it up. I wasn't feeling the story and decided to try something else. Second thing I tried was a crossover, but I wasn't happy with writing something like that as it takes the fun out of world building, which is half the practice I needed for NaNo anyway. So there went two weeks of my life, spent on stories that I am not planning to write any time soon.

This leads me on to the story I am working on now. It is an adventure story, but with a bit of a darker tone, more in line with a world where I can explore the themes that I am good at. Don't expect happy ponies. The plan is for this story to be a trilogy, the first part of which I will have finished before Novmember. I will then complete the series once NaNo is complete, barring any other life changing events. I currently have 16,000 words finished in the story and it shows no signs of slowing in my motivation to write it. I want to be a few chapters deep before I release anything to make sure the story is on the path that I want it to be.

I hope you guys don't mind waiting a few more days, possibly a couple of weeks, before I throw the first chapter up. But if you do, oh well, I'll release it when it's ready and no sooner. :P
