Diamonds and Sparkles

Rarity angrily huffed as she tossed a long strip of lace on her newest creation. It didn't match the dress style, and Rarity was furious. She took a deep breath, then carefully put the strip of lace down, and glared at the dress. It certainly wasn't one of her finest creations, and Rarity knew why. Ever since her and Twilight Sparkle had began to hang out more, she'd found it awfully difficult to focus on work with sweet memories of Twilight floating through her head. Rarity smiled at the thought of Twilight Sparkle. her choppy, pink and purple streaked mane, her bright, purple eyes... Rarity had become so wrapped up in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed a certain lavender unicorn trot in. "Hey Rarity!" Rarity froze. She quickly spun around, and felt heat rising to her alabaster cheeks. "Oh Twilight, you startled me." Rarity stammered. "I came to drop by the newest edition of Fashion Through the Ages". Twilight said as she rummaged through her saddlebag, looking for the book. "Aha!" She exclaimed as lifted the book up for Rarity to see. Rarity flipped through it, examining the words. "Hmmm" She carefully set the book down. "So, I was wondering if you'd be interested in coming over tomorrow for some tea, and to maybe, chat?" Rarity said nervously. Twilight thought for a moment, the politely declined. "I'm very sorry, Rarity, but I've got a large report due in a few days, and I really don't have any extra time to chat". Rarity felt hot tears form in the corners of her eyes as she nodded. She turned around, and began working on her dress. she could feel Twilight's confused look burning a hole into her neck. eventually, the unicorn began to leave. "Well, bye Rarity. Enjoy the book!" Twilight exclaimed as she trotted out the door, and into the darkness. Rarity's mind began racing about twilight almost immediately. She knew she liked Twilight far more than a friend, but... Suddenly, she was struck with a hard realization. "I think I'm in love with Twilight Sparkle."
