I know the chapters of the Spidey story are coming out slowly these days (I apologize for my laziness) and with the current chapter I'm working on I would like the input of the audience. Would anyone like to focus more on the Spidey side of the story or do you want to see more of Peter's normal, day to day life. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place in the choice between slow chapters that may build character and faster, web-slinging chapters that may make the story rushed and confusing if I don't take the time to explain. Any ideas on where I should go with this right now, or are you all happy with the way it's going so far?
(Yikes, how long has this been here? )
Can't complain with the way it's been going so far.
My philosophy is: If you think it's important, or funny, write it in, as long as it comes easily to you. If something doesn't really contribute to the plot, ask yourself how much you like the concept of it and how far you've fleshed out the scene in your head (often directly proportional to each other)
In my case, I like to think that attentive people can make pretty solid guesses as to what I wanted to achieve with a scene, just by looking at the scene;
Long monologues are exposition.
Long dialogues are always at least partially for humor.
Internal monologues are usually for emotion
And "action scenes" (as in, everything that isn't talking) are either slapstick (=humor) or driving the story forward.
