So, about that Eurovision series... · 2:30am Apr 8th, 2012
...I took a look at this year's entrants and realized something.
Almost half of the 42 songs are break-up songs of some kind or another. I have no intention of writing the same story with different faces 20 times, so a lot of those are out. The rest? There are some "gems" among these that I honestly don't know how to turn into a story, like "Euro Neuro", "I'm a Joker" or "The Social Network Song". (I wish I was making these up. I'm not.)
Currently in the running for the next story: Iceland (a break-up song that might be interpreted in different ways), Germany (another of them, but it's my home country after all), Russia ("Party for Everybody"? That should offer some possibilities...) and Switzerland (a "doing your own thing" song might hold promise).
Also, there's a bigger story in the works (and by that, I mean extremely early stages). Nothing romantic or sad this time (not prominently, at least). Working title is "Elements of Integrity", but that might change if I can find a better overarching concept that unites the titular elements. It's inspired by my FiM roleplaying group, so I'll have to be careful to avoid Mary Sue-ism in the original characters (one of them is Fluttershy's sister, which is great for RPGs and pretty much a Mary Sue dead giveaway in fics).
