A heart torn asunder by my own writing... · 1:57am Sep 3rd, 2013
After nearly a year and a half of this idea being in my head... "To Serve With Honor".. and all the following stories have finally had their primary characters established, and all the events that need to happen, are now properly set into place by the characters...
I'm so very excited to see all the pieces I've built up over the last year or so finally come together cohesively in my storyboards... but at the same time, I feel awful. Because in order for the story to be interesting, there has to be a villain. Not just some stuck-up jerk trying to follow in the footsteps of his heroic ancestor... but a true villain, someone who, just outside of the scope of perception, is setting into motion hundreds of tiny events... each of which will resonate with each other until the time comes to reap the fields of cruelty that they have sown.
So, for anyone who cares to be informed... my genre-less story will be, ultimately, a tragedy. Spending so long in developing this cast of characters... I've grown quite attached to them, and it splits my heart in half to do this to them... but I have a very strong feeling that this is the proper course to take.
(To my super-secret pre-readers... I'm still planning on "To Serve With Honor" being its own standalone prequel... not much will change with it... I need it to be as it has been for the past few months in order to properly establish a canon-similar universe. Just don't expect a direct sequel to come out anytime soon... the Epilogue will be coming first.)
From light comes darkness, from the darkness comes life.
Right always has it's wrongs, and evil always has a goodness.
Don't fret, seeing as a villain doesn't always have to be *the* villain. He could be in a tough situation, working for the wrong person, or he might be having his family threatened by a larger force working to turn the profit or something, but is not all bad. Evil is not always coherent, or a large mass like in the stories, but rather a disjointed web of deceit and lies.
Sometimes... These villains are just there, wrong place wrong time.
