Introduction and Invitation · 1:10am Aug 22nd, 2013
Hi, I'm new to this, but I hope I'm welcome here.
I'm 51 years old, a former aerospace engineer with about 15 years of work experience. This gives me a very thorough grounding in the hard sciences. I've also done lots of both persuasive and creative writing, as well as reports and manuals. I've read about a lifetime's worth of science and fantasy fiction plus the occasional romance. I also paid attention during History class in high school.
I'm absolutely nuts about Yamato. I watched it in the late 70's and it gave me hope during a time when hope was very hard to come by. That's another story for another day.
I married a decade ago and my darling wife bore us a beautiful and brilliant little girl. She's going on 10 years old, and she's about as nuts about MLP as I have been about Yamato. My daughter and I watch MLP together.
This might be presented as kidvid but actually MLP is extremely sophisticated story telling with complex character and very long story arcs. I've actually had a chance to study the characters (both by watching and by accessing wikies.
I saw a couple attempts to merge Yamato and MLP, so I decided to give it a try. I call mine The Quest For Iscanter. Rather than just impose names and terms, I have tried to develop them in the context of MLP by creating a slightly expanded universe. I'm intending for the story to be teen at the very most, although I do reserve the right to try to get some crap past the radar for the sake of character development.
Please, no flames from MLP or Yamato purists. I'm doing the best I can. Constructive feedback is welcome. I have no idea how many people are reading my story or what they actually think of it.
Your turn,
The Eternal Squire
