The Cough. A poem based off the story by Ebon Mane
Poem by TheStompyScamper

And in the darkness someone coughed.
The world around was bleak and bare,
The illness spread to every mare.
Not knowing what could be their fate,
Twilight’s horn did illuminate.
“Who was it?” Twilight asked,
“What’s it matter?” Said Rainbow fast.
The world around was bleak and bare,
The illness spread to here and there.
“The cough could mean our fears come true,”
“The illness spread to me, or you.”
“Could it be, a cold or dust?”
Squeaked Fluttershy, her voice a hush.
“I wish it was, dear Fluttershy,”
“But that chance, we shall not try.”
The world around was bleak and bare,
Fear and sorrow, filled the air.
In silence sat, the ponies 6.
Not a heart would silence fix.
For they knew, best 1 should die,
Just to save the other 5.
Minutes past and still no answer,
‘Till Fluttershy, her voice did squee,
“Everypony, it was me...”
The weather pony by her side,
Sat broken hearted, mouth gaped wide.
“I couldn’t live, if you all died.”
Said Fluttershy, as she cried.
“Rainbowdash, it must be you”
Her normal color, pastel blue,
Had gone away, for she knew,
What Twilight said, she knew was true.
“It’s best you put your head up right.”
Spoke Applejack, with all her might,
“To make it... quicker, have no fear,”
“I’m afraid your death, is near.”
Fluttershy did as was told,
The air around was freezing cold.
The world around was bleak and bare,
For one close friend, the end, was there.
“I’m sorry, I love you so!”
Spoke Rainbowdash, herself, must know,
Her closest friend, she now must kill,
To save the rest, from getting ill.
“I love you too!” Spoke Fluttershy,
For she knew, she must die.
The weather training, Rainbow had,
Made her strong, a feat. not bad.
Kick one, she set straight on her friend,
The blood, which fell upon her end.
A whimper and squeal, the pain, she could feel.
A second kick, then third with force,
To put an end to this great horse.
The world around was bleak and bare,
The pain they all felt, is forever there.
The lights went out, before Rainbow started,
To keep everyone less broken hearted.
After that, the life was ended,
The lights still out, no one offended.
Silence sat upon that bunch,
‘Till something broke the silent hush,
A noise which no one, could just cast off,
And in the Darkness, someone, coughed.
The End.
