"...it's difficult to watch this [...] and not be struck by how awkward it is."
Yeah, it is awkward. And? Let me make one thing perfectly clear: I never liked this writer, and even though she makes good points sometimes, she by and large gets her shine on by making nerds look like weirdos, and articles like this only affirm that she's no better than the kind of writer you see at the tabloids. I mean seriously? Bronies are awkwards? Here's some news for you, honey, you're in the same fucking boat as us, in the larger societal picture. Nerds are always portrayed as awkward, hostile towards external influences and VASTLY underpowered in the fields of socialization. Always. So what if they're awkward? Why the fuck does that even matter? People are awkward, no matter if they're Bronies, club goers, punkers, whatever. Being awkward is what lets you grow your social legs, stop giving a crap about what people think and find your own groove. Besides, singling out one group as exemplary of a particular behavior pattern makes everyone involved that much less enlightened, ESPECIALLY YOU. When we turn against each other this way, it becomes so much easier for people to pick us apart and manipulate us however they want to, like when they throw water on us because we happen to be wearing a Derpy shirt that day.
It's patently absurd, and I, for one, will not put up with anyone who turns an entire group of people into an unfeeling object for people to treat how they will
